ISLA The cold wind nipped at my cheeks as I hurried down the street, clutching the grocery list and the money Oliver had given me. My breath fogged in the chilly air, and I kept my head down, focusing on putting one foot in front of the other. I didn’t want to think about the bruising kiss he’d left on my lips, the mocking words he’d whispered. Not now. I had a task to do, and I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of coming home empty-handed. The supermarket was just a few blocks away, thanks to the directions of the passerby’s who were kind enough to direct me.
