Oliver’s POV I sat at the head of the conference table in a dimly lit private room at one of my firm’s properties. The team of private investigators I had hired days ago stood across from me, their faces serious. A cold knot of unease formed in my stomach. I wasn’t used to relying on anyone else to uncover my problems, but desperate times called for drastic measures. My company was under siege, and I needed answers—fast. The lead investigator, a wiry man named Harris, cleared his throat. “Mr. Oliver, we’ve uncovered something we think you’ll find… relevant to your current situation.” I leaned forward, my hands clenched tightly. “Go on,” I said, my tone clipped.
