Destiny Rewritten

With a gentle breeze, the pink curtain billowed, welcoming the morning sunlight into the cozy bedroom, gently illuminating Isabella's serene face as she stirred from her slumber with a start, murmuring, "Ahh, ouch...." She jolted awake and instinctively ran her hands across her body, a sense of urgency driving her actions as she inspected her flawless skin, searching for any sign of injury. 'No wounds, no blood... How can I be alright?' Her mind raced with confusion as she frantically scanned her surroundings, slowly piecing together the peculiar realization dawning upon her. "This is the dormitory room where I once lived for a short span around a year ago. How could I be here now after being killed by Penelope?" Isabella questioned herself aloud, her voice tinged with bewilderment as she examined her surroundings more intently, hoping to unravel the mystery of her unexpected return. A sudden realization washed over her as she glanced at the date on the calendar. "April 13th, 2023. It's my birthday, one year ago," Isabella exclaimed, her mind racing with possibilities. "Am I reincarnated? It seems I've been given a chance to protect William from his enemies. Thank you, moon goddess, for this extraordinary opportunity!" she exclaimed, overflowing with gratitude and excitement. As she hastily prepared for her work, Isabella paused in her tracks, seizing her phone as a new realization dawned upon her. "This... this is the birthday gift William gave me last night," she murmured, a pang of regret flooding her heart as memories of her past life resurfaced. "But I made a grave mistake when I confessed my love for him. The next day, I was bullied by Penelope and her clique, and William distanced himself from me," Isabella lamented, her voice filled with regret. "Oh, moon goddess, if you granted me this chance, couldn't you have awakened me a day earlier, before I made that confession?" Initially, Isabella seethed with frustration as memories of her past humiliation flooded back. Yet she summoned her inner strength, determined not to allow anyone to bully her again, even though it remained a daunting task for someone as naturally timid as her. "Look at her; isn't she bold enough to walk confidently after all this?" "Bold? She is the biggest i***t I have ever known." "Right, an i***t to pull such a stunt." Isabella heard a few girls looking at her and gossiping the moment she entered the building of Monte Carlo House, the high-end club of the city, where Isabella works part-time. 'Why are they gossiping about me? I don't even recognize them,' Isabella wondered momentarily before trying to push past and clear her mind, but her path was blocked by a cluster of girls. "Ugh, not this again," Isabella grumbled under her breath as she spotted the omegas from the Night Shine Pack, always at the beck and call of Penelope, the alpha's daughter. "Hey, where do you reckon you're heading?" "Oh, look who's feeling all gutsy, trying to swoop in on William. Got some big ideas about yourself, huh?" The rich girls are regular members of the club, who often torment Isabella. They encircled her, their comments laced with sarcasm and snark. Isabella exhaled slowly, slinging her bag over her left shoulder before firing back, "And why is that any of your business?" "Got your tongue, you insufferable bitch." Their exchange was abruptly interrupted by a sharp, reprimanding voice. Turning, they saw Isabella approaching, clad in a sleek red designer dress adorned with limited edition accessories. "Hey Penelope, check her out. Quite the transformation, huh? Gone from grubby jeans to a fancy dress," one girl remarked, flipping Isabella's long hair over her shoulder and exposing her skin in the off-shoulder attire. "Trying to catch William's eye with this getup?" Another girl chimed in, tugging at the back of Isabella's dress and giving her a shove, causing her to stumble. "A lowly wizard like you can only fantasize about other people's boyfriends, yet you have the nerve to set your sights on William. Remember, he's a werewolf, the future alpha of the Crescent Moon pack, and I'm destined to be his Luna. What gives you..." Penelope's anger boiled over upon discovering Isabella's feelings for William. She was about to unleash her frustration, but Isabella cut her off. "I know all of that, so spare me your pointless diatribe. If there's nothing else, I have better things to do." "You pathetic excuse for a girl, how dare you cut me off?" Penelope spat, her rage evident as she attempted to slap Isabella, only to have her wrist caught in a vice-like grip. "Let me go!" Penelope struggled against Isabella's firm hold, but Isabella's grip only tightened, refusing to release her. "Careful, Penelope, don't stir up trouble," Isabella warned, her tone firm but composed. Penelope was caught off guard, remembering how she used to bully Isabella out of jealousy of her friendship with William. Isabella had never dared to challenge her before. What had changed? "What makes you think you can mess with me? And let me remind you, Isabella, that William will never feel the same about you. You're nothing but his little lapdog," Penelope spat, yanking her hand away from Isabella's grip. "You don't need to worry about that," Isabella retorted coolly, sidestepping past Penelope and giving her a firm shove with her shoulder as she passed. "Isabella, you damn b***h. This isn't over," Penelope spat out angrily, stomping her foot in frustration. She was about to pursue Isabella when her best friend Mia intervened, grabbing her arm to stop her. "Penelope, honey, let it go. We'll handle her later. Right now, you have your swimming session. You're representing our club in the inter-athletics championship." An hour later, Penelope, accompanied by a few of her loyal followers, strolled into the swimming court wearing bikinis adorned with elegant robes, their laughter echoing loudly as they watched something amusing on their phones. "This is hilarious! I wonder who pulled this off." Penelope exclaimed with a grin. "It's like the universe avenged you, Penelope. You should be thrilled," Mia chimed in. "Of course she can't. Just look ahead," an omega remarked, pointing disdainfully at Isabella standing at the other end of the swimming court in her elegant swimwear. "What an eyesore......." Penelope muttered irritably, striding purposefully towards Isabella, followed closely by her entourage of omegas. "What the f**k are you doing here?" Penelope bellowed. As one of the top swimmers, this swimming court was her domain, and Isabella's presence felt like an intrusion. "What one can do at swimming court while wearing a swim suit?" Isabella countered, raising her eyebrows defiantly. "You've got no shame, sticking around after all that's gone down," Mia accused. "What are you implying?" Isabella was genuinely puzzled. Another omega swiftly switched on her phone and displayed a video to Isabella. Isabella's heart sank as she watched her confession to William the previous evening, followed by his silent rejection, now circulating online. "This never happened in my past life. How could things change without me doing anything?" Isabella thought, feeling the tension grip her. A wave of insecurity washed over her, eroding her confidence slightly. "Shameless b***h, still hanging around after William put you in your place." "You've got the audacity to keep chasing after William like a pesky annoyance." "What nonsense?" Isabella couldn't take the humiliating remarks anymore. "Look at that attitude," Mia commented. "They're right, aren't they? Why else would an aquaphobic like you be here in a swimsuit? Trying to seduce William, the water baby, with your swimbiknis?" Penelope taunted with a smirk as she noticed William walking in and standing a few meters away, facing Isabella's back. "Ridiculous. I'm not trying to seduce William or anyone," Isabella declared with a hint of attitude, unaware of William's presence. "Then what's with the swimsuit? Trying to score in the inter-athletics meet?" "What are you on about, Penelope? That spot was yours. She couldn't beat you in her wildest dreams," Mia goaded, intentionally provoking Isabella. "Of course I can..." Isabella responded swiftly, her confidence unwavering. Penelope and her friends nailed it. "Let's make a wager. The one who pulls off the highest dive wins and secures the spot in the athletic meet," Penelope proposed hastily, noticing William approaching them. "If he gets involved, he'll stop Isabella from getting in the water, and I'll miss my chance to teach this b***h a lesson," Penelope thought with hatred. "Fine..." "No, you can't do this...." William intervened urgently, cutting Isabella off and pulling her arm to turn her around to face him. "Oh gosh, what's he doing here? Did he overhear everything? Even if he did, I can't back down now," Isabella thought, quickly pulling her arm from William's grip. "William, can you please stay out of my affairs?" Isabella said, meeting his gaze squarely, before turning on her heel and striding away. Ten minutes later, Isabella and Penelope stood on the highest platform, poised to jump. Behind them, William prepared himself, though still sulky about Isabella's earlier attitude. However, he couldn't let her risk her life. At the sound of the referee's whistle, they both plunged into the water, eliciting concerned shouts from some spectators. "She's struggling!" "Help her!"
