Lyra “Luna Lyra? Hello? Are you still there?” Jed’s hesitant voice pulled me from my thoughts and I realized I’d been silent for a while. “Yes. Sorry.” I replied, contrite. “You talked about a shelter for homeless kids? When did you join them? I mean what year?” Jed paused for a short while, then replied, “Well, your father brought me in when I was about ten or eleven years old at the time and I left in 2020 when I graduated highschool.” A frisson of excitement ran down my back. 2020 was the year before Elena’s death and it was possible that she may have been in the shelter at the same time as Jed at some point. “Jed, do you think you can still remember the kids who lived with you at the shelter?” Another pause, and I waited, hand curled into a fist, holding my breath in anticipation
