The training room was nothing like I expected.
There were no weapons.
No soldiers.
No targets.
No screaming.
Just an empty stone chamber beneath the fortress, lit by small silver lamps along the walls.
I stood in the middle of it, staring at Kael.
He stood several feet away from me.
His arms were folded across his chest.
For once, he wasn't giving me an order.
He was waiting.
I frowned.
"What am I supposed to do?"
He raised an eyebrow.
"What do you want to learn?"
I blinked.
"You're asking me?"
"Yes."
"You're the one who brought me here."
"I brought you here to train."
"Then shouldn't you know what I'm supposed to do?"
"I know what I would teach you."
He paused.
"But this is your power."
I stared at him.
"What would you teach me?"
"How to survive it."
