Cyrena's POV "Attention all on board, the plane is set to land in five minutes, put on your safety seatbelts and brace yourself for landing." A feminine voice announced. "You hear that Debbie? We're landing soon!" Freddie said, excitedly. Debbie didn't respond so he took it upon himself to lean in and shake her hands vigorously causing her to remove the sleep mask she wore and scowl at him. "Let me be Jackie, find someone else to disturb, like Cyrena over there, she seems excited about the landing too." Debbie pouted. Freddie scoffed as she referred to him as Frey; a feminine name but he didn't relent, rather, he kept shaking her arms and asking her a questions about the pack that he had asked at least a million times before. I laughed softly at their childish exchange and stared out the window, the clouds seemed fluffy and nice, exactly the same as when I was flying out of the state to go study and now I'm returning back to that same pack. Ten minutes later, the plan had landed and we were in the process of clearing our luggages while Debbie threatened to snap off two of Freddie's fingers if he kept bothering her, I heard a familiar voice call out my name. Turning my head instantly towards the direction I heard the sound emitting from, my heart filled with instant warmth. I let go of the luggage I was holding and ran into their embrace. "Mom!" I exclaimed, happily, tears swelling in my eyes. I inhaled her scent, the same scent that stayed awake all night whenever I wasn't feeling well and made me better when I was done. She chuckled softly, patting my back lovingly. "My darling." She cooed. "Won't you hug your old man?" I heard my father say. I broke the hug and literally threw my weight on my father. "Papa!" I exclaimed. He laughed heartily and hugged me back. "Little Cy is back home, see how big she has grown!" Father let go of me and I playfully eyed my younger brother before throwing myself at him and wrapping my legs around his waist as if we were long term lovers. He laughed loudly while I rained kisses all over his face and he cried out for help. "Help! She's killing me with all these kisses and love! I can't breath!" Altair cried out in mock horror, I scoffed and finally let go of him. A feeling of pride swell in my heart seeing my family after a long period of time. "Ahem, aren't you forgetting something?" Debbie asked. I gasped as I realized that I had forgotten all about Freddie and Debbie and when I opened my mouth to speak, Papa stopped me. "Shush baby, we know, they're your friends. Debbie is family to us and you can introduce the young man later but let's go, you've had a rough journey, you need to rest." He urged me. I nodded in approval. "Okay, let's go home!" I exclaimed, excitedly. I ran up to Altair who was now loading the luggage into the booth of the car they brought and fake punched him. He scoffed and called my punches soft and painless which sounded like a tease to my ears while my Mama, being the amazing mom she was, ushered Debbie and Freddie into the backseat of the car. "C'mon, get in!" She instructed. I did as she said and sat there while she sat in the middle seat, Altair got into the driver's seat and Papa go in the passenger's seat. "Off we go!" Papa announced as Altair ignited the car engine. All through the ride home, my mind was unsettled, I had left the pack for almost a decade and going back was nostalgic for me but this soon turned into excitement as my mother busied us with small and amusing talks for the one-hour ride home. When we arrived, we alighted from the car and some maids came to help unload the luggage while Papa and Mama asked Debbie, Freddie and I to just go into the house. Altair took the lead and opened the door, I was shocked to the bone marrow by what welcomed me. "Surprise!" The crowd yelled. I was startled and couldn't hide my smile as I saw my old friends and our extended family members in the room, they all held either a card, garland, present or balloon in their hands and some held little trumpets to make a lively sound. "Welcome home Cyrena!" They chorused. I covered my face with my hands as I was moved by their warm greeting and few tears slid down my face, I turned to my parents and brother and hugged them, appreciating them for the surprise party. "Thank you! I'm glad to be back home!" I announced, happily. My friends took turns in giving me a warm but brief hug and everyone else in the room, giving me the presents they had prepared for me. I soon got drawn into their midst and found myself laughing hard. A clink got our attention. "Thank you everyone for coming to this welcome party for our beloved daughter and friend who has made us all proud of her, to Doctor Cyrena Phillips!" Papa proposed a toast. Everyone raised their glasses. "To Doctor Cyrena Philips!" They toasted. I felt at home and evidently relaxed and welcome, Freddie and Debbie found their way through the little crowd to me. "I didn't know you're a local celebrity back here Cy." Freddie teased. I playfully hit his chest and saw from the corner of my eyes, my parents staring at us so without warning, I grabbed Freddie and Debbie's hand and them along with me to my parents. "Mama, Papa, meet Doctor Freddie Anderson, he's one of the best Doctors in the world and a colleague of mine, he's been helping me from day one, he's volunteered to work with us and this is Doctor Debbie, you may not remember her but she's been with me ever since I can remember, she's the reason I made it as a Doctor and has never been anything less than supportive!" I introduced Debbie and Freddie. "I'm indebted to you two, any friend of Cyrenas' is family to us, you're welcome, thank you for being there for my daughter." Papa said. "You both are my children now, don't you dare forget that." Mama said, lovingly as she pinched Debbie's cheeks. "Come, Doctor Freddie, tell me all about the embarrassing things Cyrena has done, does she take her bath regularly?" Papa asked, putting a arm around Freddie's neck and walking away with him. "She's hilarious!" I heard Jackson reply. I shook my head and laughed, leaving me and Mama alone but before I could say a word, she held Debbie as well, I was about to protest when two of my high school friends walked over to us. "You're so lucky Cyrena, I'm just glad your back." Kiara, of the girls said. "I've missed you too Kia, I'm also elated to be back home, I've missed all of this, the warmth and everything in-between." I replied. She smiled and hugged me, warmly and I didn't rebuff the actions. "You made us all proud! Many companies and research institutes are seeking to hire me when I mention that I went to the same high school with you, they also coyly ask if I can get you to come work for them, that's how famous you are!" Kiara added and I blushed. " Cyrena, you know the alpha would be here soon right?" Karlene revealed. "What?" I asked, confused. "Alpha Tyrell." The glass of champagne I held slipped from my hands.
