Chapter 11: See You Again Cam I was yanked forward by the girl and with Andre at my rear, I climbed the dirty rickety stairs, barely managed to escape a loose floorboard. Before I knew it, I was pushed into a room. The disgusting smell of rotting eggs met my nose instantly and I cringed. There was a surprisingly clean bed and a table and two chairs. The windows were covered with heavy curtains. Before anybody could say anything, I went ahead and put Cameron on the bed, turning him, so he could sleep on his side, like he likes. Even though he was my little brother and I loved him very much, he was quite heavy. I settled on the other half of the bed beside him, keeping an eye on them both. I watched as the two goons settled themselves on the chairs and positioned the table between them. Then, one by one, I saw them remove their weapons. Even the girl, whose every curve was enunciated with all the leather she wore had a lot of dangerous stuff with her. I wondered where she hid the grenade she had just kept on the table. I grew terrified, as the different types and sizes of guns, magazines and knives assaulted my eyes in the low light. Before, I was afraid of the duo but now I was shaking. It was too much for me to handle in a very short amount of time. These people can kill me. Anytime. Then, Andre said something which made my ears stand up in attention. "Get the solution, Victoria." The girl stood up and I frowned. Looking at her again, I just...felt that she didn't look like a Victoria. Not that all the girls with the name Victoria had a specific quality, but the name just didn't suit her. Victoria opened the closet door on the side, making me aware of the fact that they come here often. But for what? Methodically, both began to dismantle their guns and grabbing a rag type cloth, began to clean their guns. Even though they were just cleaning their guns, I couldn't help but think that it was a silent warning to me, that if I tried to run away, there were many ways to bring me back. Or to kill me. They were mostly silent while doing their jobs, focusing on their guns, speaking only a few words in whispers too low for me to hear, when necessary. Almost 45 minutes passed before their work ended and almost simultaneously, they began to pack up their things. Suddenly, Cameron stirred leaving unconsciousness to come to again. I held his hand as he slowly woke up and after glancing around the room and then at our captors, the gravity of the situation hit him and he looked at me, tears in his eyes, making them red. I hugged him. I got up from my seat on the bed with Cam still in my arms and started swaying him in gentle motions I have seen mom do, when Cam was not well. In a soothing, relaxing voice, I spoke to him, making sure not to promise anything which was out of my hands. Like, our safety. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Victoria glance at Andre and saw him head towards the door. Hope began to build up in me because if he left, I maybe, be able to take on the female. But, to my disappointment, he just stood there, in front of it hands folded across his massive chest, blocking my way out. I turned and saw Victoria staring at me and Cameron. "Give him to me." She commanded, while I stared at her in shock. "No." I said-more like begged, pressing Cameron closer to me while he began to sob again. "I said...give him to me." She verbalized again, taking a few steps forward threateningly, while I turned my body slightly matching her steps, trying to hide Cameron from her sight. "NO! You cannot take him away!" I shrieked, aware that Cam's hold on me was getting tighter. Before I left the house, I had promised my parents that I won't ever let anything happen to Cam. I will not break that promise. I hugged Cameron closer, as if to hide him under my very skin. Victoria just stood there in the smelly motel room, in front of me, while Andre just stood behind me, blocking the only escape, the door. "He will not be harmed. Andre will smuggle him out. Give. Him. To. Me!" Victoria said in a very calm voice. She sounded as if she was trying to control her temper. Poking the bear, I just scoffed at her. They were smugglers. I figured they were into something illegal long back. At least smuggling beats human traffickers, if they were telling the truth. "What's the guarantee?" I asked instead. She remained silent. Cameron whimpered, sending a waft of hot air on my neck. His small hands were around me, Victoria's idea of separating as painful to him, as to me. She looked at something behind me and then, before I could turn, I was grabbed from behind and Cameron was wrenched away from me. "No!" I shouted but it was too late. "I haven't got time for this crap." In a split second, Victoria was pointing a gun at my face and had grabbed my neck. In a fit of dizziness and shock, I was only able to whisper out a "You are grabbing my neck." She nodded, still putting some pressure on the single point. "Why are you grabbing my neck?" She remained silent. I moved and saw Cameron now being handled by Andre. But, suddenly, the world around me turned dark and I collapsed on the floor in a heap. My eyes started closing and I was able to hear one painful sob coming from Cameron before all my senses dulled out...
