Gold's POV
After cleaning up the house, I had my breakfast. There wasn't much to do so I placed a call to my mum. She told me the situation of things around the city, how the economy had plummaged the family business was not flowing as it should. I reassured her that everything will be ok. Without telling her or anyone else, my mum has been my drive, the reason I had to succeed real bad. After the call I dived into my closet to
Search for an outfit for the date, my first date ever, but everything in there was inappropriate. I brought just a few of my clothes for school, had I known I would be going on a date, I would have brought my entire closet.
I considered calling Pete to cancel the date. I felt very nervous. If I have to go on this date, I must be pretty enough. I was not this nervous and self conscious when I was out with Kyle yesterday. All I felt was comfort, relaxed and like myself. no stress whatsoever. Just then the door bell rang. It was awkward because I was not expecting anyone. So I delayed in answering, the door bell came yet a second time. I went down to open the door, but there was no one, just a large box on the floor with an LV logo. I have read a lot of books and heard some stories about bombs installed in packages, could this be my own share of the trick? I dashed towards the tool house in search of my uncle's metal detector, I know he has it from years of working off shore, hopefully it should still be in a working condition.
I came down with it, I know my action must seem very ridiculous but I can't be blamed for trying to be safe than sorry in our current crime saturated society. Besides I was new to the city and did not have much of acquaintances, so nothing should go wrong at least.
I pressed the power button and the device came on, I waved it around the box and there was no beeps at least it was not something dangerous. I lifted up the box and marched upstairs to my room. My room is not much, just a small space that was usually a*****e before I came over here. I placed the box on my bed and sat to inspect it. It looked really fancy and feminine. I was curious and my curiosity compelled me, I opened the box and peeked into it. I laid my eyes on the most pretty dress I ever seen, it was from Louis Vuitton. The dress was black and has shiny stones on it, they look like real diamonds splattered generously at the neck and scantily downward. I just placed it on my bed, like a fragile piece of glass and couldn't take my eyes off it. I am so happy that I almost did not feel like putting it on because I never believed I could get anything from that brand, considering the expensive price tag on everything they showcase. I looked in the box again and there was a Louis Vuitton bag and shoes inside. I do not have any wealthy friends. I know my uncle is financially stable but this couldn't be from him, his wife would kill him if he did. then who could these be from? I thought. Then my eyes caught a little card in the box.
'To Gold'
It read. I was utterly confused. This meant that the person knew my name but that did not give me much clue. I made up my mind to keep the dress. I wrapped it up the way it came and dropped the box at the top most part of my shelf. The door bell rang again. I went to answer the door immediately, hoping it would be the same person who dropped the box and perhaps it was a wrong address, that would be a great explanation to help get rid of such expensive possession. I opened the door and there was a bouquet of black roses at the door. I love black coloured things but this was totally out of it. I do not want black roses and I never knew they even existed, black roses were not even a thing at funerals so why would I want them. I noticed a little card poking out of the bouquet.
' Have a great little date. '
It read. I was glued to the floor, tense and confused. Not only did the words seem ironic and daring. It was written in red thriller font. It must have been some kind of prank, but I honestly thought it was dumb. That person needed a lot more than that to stop me from going on that date. What is this person trying to achieve? I picked up the bouquet, went inside and placed it on the table. I slumped on the couch. I had to get to the bottom of this. No one else knew about the date except Pete and I. Or was Pete playing games with me? I placed a call to Pete.
" Hi there, queen " came Pete's voice from the other end of the line. He sounded very nice and unsuspecting.
"I am speechless right now, I am so happy that I am about to cry!" I said squealing and I earned myself a laugh from Pete. " What is the good news?" He asked.
" The dress you sent me is super cute, thank you!" I squealed again.
"You know what, before the end of this call I might have a broken ear drum Gold, calm down and talk to me, what dress are you talking about?"
Pete responded calmly.
"The dress from LV, or wasn't that from you?" I asked really thrown off now.
"I am only a student Gold, how can I afford a Louis Vuitton piece? " Pete laughed.
" Oh no, if not you then who?" I gasped. "Not only was there an LV piece but a complete Louis Vuitton set too, I think it is a wrong address" I cooed.
" You got some secret admirers, queen and this one is a big fish" Pete teased.
" What do I do? I put it away already and I have no intentions of putting them on" I stated as a matter of fact.
"I suggest you put it on, whoever sent it must want to see how you look in it and I will not mind taking you out in it. I will love to crush some nerves, won't you?" Pete said sounding mischievous." Now you said it, I think I should step on some nerves with my red bottoms." I responded and Both Pete and I ended up laughing.
"See you soon" he said and ended the call.
***********
8 PM, A black Bentley pulled up in front of my house and honked. I did not pay much attention to it because the girls next door have been receiving such visitors ever since I first came here. I even saw one of the girls walk towards the car. I was beginning to think Pete bailed out on me. I was about to close the window when I noticed the girl walk back to her door. I saw a figure that looked like Pete, stepping out of the Bentley towards my door. I rushed down stairs and flung the door open at the first sound of the bell. There he was, extremely handsome like a merman, and breathtaking. He flashed a smile at me, and I couldn't even react to anything at that moment. He kissed my knuckles and led me to the car. The driver held the door for me and I stepped in and Pete followed. Since we started the ride, I was still speechless and stunned and I bet Pete noticed that was the reason he asked me what was going on in my head. "Why are we going in a Bentley, a freaking Bentley!? Who owns this and why are you using this for a date?" I yelled. At that moment I was just unable to control my emotions.
"Geez, calm down, I got this on rental, and I just want to make our date night memorable and beautiful" Pete explained running his hand through his hair. "Are you messing with me right now? It was you who sent the dress weren't you?" I asked.
" No! If you don't believe me, here's the invoice for the car rental" he said, handing me the invoice. I glanced at it and it read 'Decagon Car rental services' with today's date on it.
"Okay, I'm sorry, just don't mess with my mind." I said exhaling.
"Can we enjoy the rest of the evening?" Pete asked, kissing my knuckles. I smiled at him.
"where do you want to go my queen?" Pete asked me.
"I'm craving some good juicy Steaks, so surprise me." I said with a smile.
" You're in for your best night yet, not just steaks." He said in a very reassuring voice.
I do not know much about the things I felt, but It registered that I'm going to erase as many 'never have I ever (s)' as possible that night.
