Sarah appeared at my door, her footsteps careful, almost hesitant. She held out the guest room key, and I noted the way her gaze softened, her usual professionalism laced with a quiet concern.
"Alpha," she said, her tone unusually gentle, "sometimes true mates need gentleness more than pride. Keep that in mind."
Her words settled heavily in my chest, leaving an ache I couldn’t quite wrestle with. I nodded wordlessly, accepting the key.
She stepped back with a slight bow. Without another word, she turned and disappeared quietly down the hall, leaving me standing there, unable to move for several moments.
