“Grace, answer me.” Alexander's voice cut through the air, taut and firm.
I stiffened, sitting upright, though my body screamed in protest. “What do you want?” I asked coldly, keeping my tone sharp to mask my vulnerability.
His gaze dropped to my bandaged hands, momentarily faltering. His brow furrowed as though he was puzzled by the sight. “What happened?” His voice softened ever so slightly, but I refused to be drawn in by it.
