The Modern Battlefield

A Simple Prayer

I pray that everyone

Has the strength and courage

To play fairly and safely

And to win or lose

With grace and honor

It seems so simple doesn't it? But be it sports, politics, war or our own lives nothing is ever this simple. Somethings we try to teach our children we ourselves either have never learned or have forgotten. So how can we expect them to learn or remember it them themselves? How are they supposed to know what is right or wrong if we ourselves don't seem to know the difference? There is no universal guide for any of us to follow. What is just and fair to one person doesn't seem to be to another. So how can we determine what is just and fair to everyone?

I originally thought of this prayer to be spoken at sporting events. Just a prayer that everyone can agree on no matter what their religion and to try not to offend too many people. From there my mind went on to realize that this simple prayer can relate to so much more. I will try to show you what I mean in the following chapters. But I don't know how successful I will be at expressing what I mean.
