Olive’s POV “Let me go! I’m not marrying that monster!” I screamed at my father’s men. They had caught up with me in the middle of the dark forest just when I thought I had finally escaped. The cold wind whipped against my face, but my skin burned with anger and fear. “Stop shouting,” the taller guard growled as he twisted my arm behind my back. “The Alpha ordered us to bring you back.” I kicked, screamed, and struggled with every ounce of strength I had left. I thrashed my legs and even tried to bite his arm, but it was useless. I was no match for the three fully grown werewolf warriors holding me down. They were powerful, while I was just a weak human girl. They dragged me all the way back to the pack house, my shoes scraping against the dirt path. As we crossed the pack borders, I noticed dozens of pack members watching. Some looked at me with disgust, others with pity, but not a single person stepped forward to help. They simply stood there, silently watching their Alpha’s daughter being dragged through the dirt. The guards didn’t stop until they reached my father’s private study. They shoved the heavy wooden doors open and threw me onto the hard floor. My knees slammed painfully against the wood. My father sat behind his large mahogany desk. He slowly rose to his feet and looked down at me with cold, emotionless eyes. “Where do you think you were going?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous. I pushed myself to my feet and glared at him with burning hatred. “Don’t ask me that!” I snapped, wiping away a tear. “Do you expect me to stay here while you sell me off like I’m some piece of property?” He stared at me for a moment before letting out a cruel laugh that made my skin crawl. “That’s not your decision to make,” he replied. “Why not?” I shouted, my voice trembling. “I’m human! I should have the right to choose my own life! Why does my sister get everything she wants while I don’t even get to decide who I marry?” My father stepped around the desk and frowned. “The sooner you stop comparing yourself to your sister, the better. You are not the same.” Without another glance at me, he turned toward the guards. “Take her away. Lock her in the dungeon. Tomorrow morning, she’ll be sent to her husband’s pack.” “No! Please, don’t!” I cried as the guards grabbed my arms and lifted me off the ground. “Dad, please! Don’t do this!” As they carried me into the hallway, I noticed more pack members gathered near the stairs, whispering among themselves. “Can’t you people stop staring?” I shouted, my voice echoing through the hall. “Is this entertaining to you?” No one answered. Everyone looked away. The guards dragged me down the narrow spiral staircase beneath the pack house. The air became colder, carrying the smell of damp stone and rusted iron. They threw me into a dark cell before slamming the heavy iron door shut. The loud clang of the lock echoed through the dungeon. I slowly slid onto the freezing floor, pulled my knees to my chest, and wrapped my arms tightly around myself as silent sobs escaped my lips. I was the Alpha’s daughter. Yet here I was, locked inside a filthy dungeon simply because I refused an arranged marriage. A bitter laugh escaped me. The whole situation felt like a nightmare. As I sat alone in the darkness, I couldn’t stop wondering what I had done to deserve so much hatred. I searched my memories again and again but couldn’t remember ever hurting anyone. When I was little, life had been different. My parents loved me. They hugged me, kissed my forehead every night, and treated me like their little princess. But everything changed the day my younger sister was born. She entered the world as a werewolf—strong, gifted, and special. I remained human. Slowly, all of my parents’ love shifted to her. I became invisible in my own home, nothing more than a disappointment they tolerated. I sighed and leaned against the cold stone wall. Every part of my body ached. My throat was dry, and my stomach growled with hunger. I hadn’t eaten anything all day. Eventually, exhaustion won. My eyes closed, and I drifted into an uneasy sleep on the hard floor. I woke to the sound of rattling keys and the heavy click of a lock turning. Blinking against the dim light, I saw two guards standing at the open cell door. Without saying a word, they grabbed my wrists and pulled me to my feet. My legs were stiff and numb, but they showed no concern. They dragged me upstairs and straight into the front living room, where my entire family was waiting. My father stepped toward me, looking perfectly calm, as though he hadn’t thrown his daughter into a dungeon the night before. “The car to take you to Alpha Kingsley’s pack has arrived,” he said coldly. “Be a good girl, and don’t do anything foolish to anger him. I’m sure you’ve heard how ruthless he is.” A fresh wave of pain washed over me. “You know what kind of man he is,” I whispered. “And you still sold me to him?” I looked at my father, my mother, and my sister. Hatred burned inside me. For years, I had done everything I could to earn their love. I cooked, cleaned, obeyed every order, and stayed silent through every insult, hoping for even the smallest sign that they cared. But now I finally understood the truth. I had spent my whole life trying to please people who had no hearts. My mother stepped forward, her expression gentle but distant. “Be a good wife to your husband, Olive,” she said quietly. “Who knows? Maybe life will be kinder to you there.” “That’s enough,” my father interrupted. “It’s time to go.” They escorted me through the front doors of the pack house. Waiting in the driveway was a sleek black SUV with heavily tinted windows. A driver dressed in a tailored black suit stood beside the open back door. My sister walked onto the porch, staring at the expensive vehicle with obvious jealousy. “Why does she get such a luxurious car?” she complained, looking at our mother. I didn’t bother responding. I didn’t even spare her a glance. Keeping my head high despite the bruises covering my arms, I walked to the SUV, climbed inside, and settled onto the soft leather seat. The driver quietly shut the door, sealing me off from the outside world. I rested my head against the cool window and looked outside. My family stood on the porch, watching the vehicle as though I were nothing more than a package being shipped away. Then my eyes drifted to the enormous pack house where I had grown up. It was supposed to be my home. Instead, it had become my prison. As the engine started and the SUV rolled down the long driveway, my heart pounded against my chest. Maybe this new pack would become the fresh start I had always dreamed of. Or maybe… I was driving straight toward an even darker nightmare. The SUV turned onto the main road and disappeared into the endless forest. Several minutes later, the driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror. His dark eyes were unreadable. “Alpha Kingsley doesn’t like waiting, Miss Olive,” he said quietly. His calm voice sent a chill down my spine.
