Introductions

After he finishes kissing the top of my hand in greeting I quickly pull my hand out of his. I can tell that he is unhappy about it.

“Let me also introduce my beta, this is Maddox Breckon” he turns slightly introducing the man behind him. Maddox merely nods his head at me in greeting. He is just as tall as his alpha yet he gives off a more reserved and stoic nature. He has midnight colored hair and matching eyes. He is handsome by any standard, he stands tall with his hands in his pockets. For alpha and beta they seem like complete opposites. I follow his lead and nod back reciprocating his greeting.

“You already briefly met but this is Eirian, my sister” I lied about her being my sister in hopes that it will make being a witch more believable. This wolf can’t know about my mother or how I came to be in this coven. Eirian waves to the men standing before us with a wicked grin on her face, it seems she is enjoying this more than I am.

I move my gaze from Eirian to look at alpha Elio, my eyes meet his and I realize that he has been staring at me. My mind is screaming at me to break his stare and divert my gaze yet there is something else inside me that won’t let me look away. “There’s no possibility of you leaving and forgetting about this whole mate business is there?” I ask in a last ditch attempt to escape my fate.

He chuckles and the sound somehow relaxes me slightly. “Unfortunately not” he smiles back at me. Well it was worth a shot.

“Fine” I say with my head held high “but Eirian is coming with me, I will not be separated from my sister.”

“I have no objections, she will always be welcome in our pack” he seemed to be happy that I wasn’t fighting harder not to go with him. “How much time will you need to pack and say your goodbyes?” He asked.

“I’ve already packed, I just need a few minutes to say goodbye to Tanith” my voice started to waver slightly. I could feel my heart breaking as I turned around and walked over to where Tanith was standing. Tanith looked up at me while she grabbed my hands and squeezed them. “I’ll pray to the moon goddess for your protection, you and Eirian stay safe” she gives my hands one last squeeze before she releases them. I throw my hands around her in a hug as a single tear runs down my cheek. I release Tanith and quickly wipe away the tear, I wont let these wolves see me break.

I walk back in the direction of my mate and let him know I am ready to leave. His beta Maddox quickly grabs our bags and loads them into an all black SUV. Maddox slides into the drivers side while Eirian takes the passenger seat, leaving my mate and I to sit in the back seat together.

“How long of a drive will this be?” I ask hoping I wont have to be stuck back here with him for too long. “A few hours” Maddox replies as he navigates the SUV back to the nearest road from our camp. Great, this is about to be the most uncomfortable few hours of my life. Somehow, while I was doing my best to ignore my mate, I ended up falling asleep. Im awoken by a hand lightly touching my arm, it’s really the sparks at the contact that wake me. Elio tells me that we have arrived and I look out the window of the car to see that we are parked in front of a massive farmhouse styled building. The building is painted white with blue shutters and there is a porch that wraps around the entire building. The landscape was just as breathtaking, we are in the center of a lush forest with tall thick trees and fields of wildflowers. Looking in the distance I see mountains that are tipped with snow. My eye sight is on par if not better than a wolves and I take in as much of the scenery as I can.

“Welcome to the blood moon pack” Elio says as he opens the door for me to step out of the car. “This is the pack house where we will be staying. The families of the alpha, beta, and gamma all reside in the pack house. The rest of the pack live in neighborhoods on the pack grounds” he explains as we climb the steps leading up to the wrap around porch. “There is also a small town with various stores on the pack ground that you can buy your essentials. If you want to go shopping for things like clothes or bigger items you will need to travel to the human city” he opens the front door and leads me inside. The inside of the house looks new yet comfortable, everything is in various shades of white, greys, and browns.

“Would you like a tour of the house now or would you prefer to relax in your room first?” He asks while placing his hand on the small of my back. I feel like I am in sensory overload and opt to be shown to my room. He leads me up 2 flights of stairs to the third floor of the house. There are 3 doors on this floor and he leads me to the second door on the left. He opens the door and I try to take in the beauty yet simplicity of the room. The walls are a cream color, there are floor to ceiling windows with blue curtains, it has a vaulted ceiling with natural wood exposed beams. The bed looks large enough to fit four grown men, there is a book shelf along one wall with a couch and table for lounging. I enter the room and can see two additional doors. I walk up to the first door and open it finding a walk in closet, it is half filled with beautiful clothes and dresses. I close the door and make a mental note to ask whose clothes they are. I walk over to the other door and open it to find a private bathroom. There is a walk in shower as well as an old vintage clawfoot tub. There are his and her sinks and another door with a private toilet inside.

“Well, what do you think?” He asks me and I realize that I am standing here with my mouth slightly open in shock. “It’s a gorgeous home and the room is beautiful” I reply.

“I’m glad you think so, the room is yours. I had the closet stocked with some more formal clothing for you. When you are ready to be introduced to the pack a ball will be held in your honor.” At the mention of a ball I turn toward him and scrunch my eyebrows together. “Why would a ball be held for me?” I ask confused.

“As my mate you will be Luna of this pack, there are customs and traditions involved when accepting the title” he states. “I don’t ever remember agreeing to the title of Luna, I have barely accepted the mate bond” I quickly reply.
