Chapter 12
~ROSALIE~
After a lifetime of endless struggle, I finally broke free from Ian's grip when we alighted from an elevator. My gaze darkened in disgust and reproach as I took staggering steps back from him.
“Why have you brought me here? Are you going to use me to satisfy your urges now? Is that it?’’
“Don't be silly, princess!’’
“Then take me back home! Or no, you don't have to. I'll find my way back myself.’’ I turned back to the elevator and tapped the button with urgent fingers, my heart thudding against my ribs.
“Damn this elevator, open!’’ I cursed desperately, sweat running down my back as I tapped harder.
All I could think about was my virginity. I'd promised to lose my first time to Mason, and that was supposed to be in two months. On my 21st birthday. I would never forgive myself if I ever lost it to any other man, especially not one of the triplets. The goddess forbid such a disaster!
“You became so stubborn as well, didn't you?’’ Ian scoffed, taking two big steps to snap my wrist.
“No! Let me go. Please!’’ I kept screaming, until he stopped in front of a door in the long quiet corridor, turning the key open.
I didn't expect loud music to pour out from the room immediately. Red lighting inside, with touches of blue and green streaks. It is almost foggy too, but the voices yelling over the music made it easier to make out the figures of people inside the room.
Ian pushed me in first, and the first thing that caught my nose was the thick smell of cigarettes in the air. I coughed terribly, but he simply dragged me further inside after shutting the door.
It's like a mini secret palour. A VVIP reservation maybe. Two triple-sitter sofas laid across from each other, with a cushion placed adjacent to them. A glass luxury table sat in the middle, packed with bottles of wines and champagnes maybe? All sorts of alcohol. Wine glasses. And an ashtray of used cigarettes.
Why was he bringing me to a place like this?
I don't even drink or smoke!
‘‘Babe!! You came.’’ Someone screamed. A lady. Hurrying towards us.
My heart thumped.
That voice.
That figure.
The smile partially left her face as she got to us, her gaze shifting to me.
‘‘Ki–Kiara?’’ My voice trembled, then realisation flashed through her eyes.
‘‘No way! Look who we have here.’’ She exclaimed in fascination, staring back over her shoulders. “Guys, you won't believe who just walked in.’’
‘‘Who is it?’’
‘‘Someone interesting?’’
They all eased forward. Three men and two other girls. At that sickening point, Ian decided to drop my hand and walked off to sit on the cushion, helping himself with a bottle of drink.
Kiara turned back to me with a smirk. She used to be way taller in highschool, but we were of the same heights now which made me marvel. Still, that didn't make her any less intimidating. She was still slender as ever, cladded in sophisticated satin dress, with her high-maintenance blonde hair falling in expensive bouncy curls to her spotless shoulders.
She had makeup on too, although she didn't need it to appear beautiful.
“What's with the long face, not happy to see me?’’ She eased closer, forcing me to take steps back.
“Hell no! Is that… the highschool fatty? Rosalie Knox?” One of the girls gasped. I recognised her immediately.
Sasha. Kiara’s closest minion.
‘‘Rosalie Knox?’’ One of the men repeated.
‘‘Wait… you mean the triplet's rat?’’ Another remarked, knocking the breath out of my lungs as I also recognised him.
Kyle Douglas. With an unfamiliar girl clinging unto him.
Then there's Preston. The triplets closest buddy and also Beta James’ son.
It felt like a nightmare seeing their predatory faces again. I wanted to disappear so badly, squeezing the side of my dress.
‘‘The triplet's rat? Why is she here then?’’ The girl beside Kyle asked, her eyes tracing my body.
Or my body fat to be precise?
“I wonder too. Why did Ian bring her here?’’ Sasha said, clearly disgusted and didn't try to hide it.
“Clearly to have some fun, spice things up.’’ Kiara chuckled, totally pleased. “This is the best birthday gift ever. Do you know how much I missed you, Fatty?’’
I swallowed hard.
So this was her birthday party?
Why did Ian bring me here then? To humillite me further? He hasn't had enough yet?
“This is going to be fun.’’ Kyle chuckled, sipping from a glass of champagne.
“She's pretty through.’’ The third guy whom I didn't recognise, stated. And Sasha turned to him in disbelief.
“You think she's pretty? There is something wrong with your eyes.’’
“I agree with Dante. Compared to what she used to look like in the past, she indeed improved.’ Preston raised a glass, and that made everyone laugh except Sasha who scoffed.
“That's enough.’’ Ian suddenly snapped, turning everyone's attention. He didn't look back though.
“Yeah well…” Kiara shrugged, turning back to me with an interesting smile. “How about a few drinks? Not bad huh?’’
Before I could respond, she pulled me along to one of the sofas, and threw me down forcefully. The sofa creaked at the impact.
‘‘Ugh, you couldn't even lose a single pound? You became an elephant now.’’ She sighed mockingly, tearing a roar of laughter from the others.
I pinched my thigh so hard, keeping my gaze on the floor.
“Kiara!’’ Ian thundered, cutting out the laughter from their lips and everyone turned to him in shock.
“C’mon babe, why are you being so sensitive? I'm just joking around with her.” Kiara mumbled, rolling her eyes.
“You don't get to do that. She's mine to deal with.’’ He said seriously. I'd known he was pissed from the moment he dragged me out of the house, but why unleash that on me?
‘‘You can easily see how irritated he is.’’ Kyle pointed out, chuckling. “I mean if she upsets you so much why bring her here?’’
“Or by chance, he's attracted to her now and he hates it so much?’’ The girl, which I was beginning to suspect had some sort of relationship with Kyle, chimed in, and Kiara's face darkened.
“Don't be ridiculous, Cecie.’’
“I mean look at all that possessiveness.’’ She chuckled, wiping invisible dust from Kyle's chest.
“You don't know the details that's why you're being extremely delusional right now. She has always been the triplet's pest to deal with. What man in his right mind would be attracted to an ugly duck like her?’’ Sasha cursed bitterly, obviously not enjoying this like the others. Reasons best known to her.
‘‘Then maybe I'm insane? Cos I'm insanely attracted to her right now.’’ Someone said from the back, which I guess would be the Dante man from earlier.
