Chapter 11
~ROSALIE~
I bit the flesh between my lower lips to stop the prickling pain in my eyes.
I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that it was all gone, blown into the wind without a chance for me to say goodbye.
Times without number, every time I missed my mother, I would think about when I finally get to behold her things again. Inhale her dress. Reminisce over her picture frames. And bask in the memories of her lifetime.
Finding leads to unlock the box had simply been a side piece for me, except that it was a major for Mason.
“Don't lose all hopes yet, Rosalie. We could still find something.’’ Mason cooed. I wonder how he wasn't the most affected by this right now. Or maybe he was just trying to be strong for me?
Oh sweet Mason!
All he's done since we left the omegas quarters is try to encourage me not tp give up over one shut door. He thinks there are still other ways to go about it and all we had to do was put our heads together. I support him on that because we didn't come all the way here just to give up like this.
“It's just, I hoped so long for this day. I miss her.”
“I think we should find out the Alpha's intentions in giving his approval to such a cruel resolution. I mean, if he really cares about you that much, he should have thought about how you'd feel.’’ Mason reasoned which I disagreed to.
‘‘We can't blame him for that. It was all Mrs Ohk’s doing. She desperately wanted to erase every trace of my mother that she soughtst ways to make him comply.’’
“Do you suspect her?’’ Mason asked after a brief silence.
I thought long and hard about it. There wasn't any reason not to suspect her. She could have wanted to end their ill-fated relationship, and also with the thought that the Alpha might abandon me after mother's death and she would finally be able to mistreat me how ever she desired.
“She's number one on my suspect list for now.” I told Mason.
‘‘But how is it that they never investigated the poisoning? Don't you find that weird?’’
I squeezed my thigh so hard as a memory of that afternoon crossed my mind. How my mother struggled on the floor, gurgling up poisonous foam from her mouth.
“They could've investigated it and found nothing. Or maybe they didn't try at all. We are not worth that much stress to be sincere.’’ I hiccuped.
“Right.’’ Mason muttered. “I'll get you some water.’’
He left for it, and the silence that settled in felt so comforting. Not because his presence had been a nuisance or anything, just because I got the chance to sink deep in memories of my mother.
How she always teased me about being smart like her. According to her, she would never have been able to save the alpha if she hadn't been smart enough.
I never got to hear the actual story behind it and I regretted it now.
Mason footsteps called me back out of my thoughts, and I quickly wiped the tear drop that hung below my eye. However when he appeared at the threshold, my breath froze.
Brooding midnight blue eyes, intimidatingly tall, muscular, vested in black, with his sleeves rolled to his elbows, revealing tanned masculine forearms. Slick black hair falling over his face. He wasn't smiling. Not like he ever was.
Ian.
What the hell is he doing here?!
“Y-you…’’ I stood up, my legs acting on their own.
Without a word, he marched towards me and caught my arm before I could slip away.
“Let go.’’ I struggled, but it wasn't even worth trying because he was already tugging me out with little to no efforts at all.
“Stop it. Where are you taking me?’’ My heart pounded madly. But he wouldn't stop or answer me.
“Hey! What the hell are you doing?’’ Mason's voice called from the passage with hurried footsteps towards us, spreading a bit of relief through me.
Ian stopped now, but his grip on my arm didn't waver.
“Let her go now.’’ Mason demanded, glaring daggers at him.
“Get off the way.’’ Ian didn't bulge. His voice deep and throaty without a second warning, sent sputum rolling down my tongue.
“Do you have a problem with your ears? I said to let….’’ The rest of his words lost in the air as Ian threw a hard fist to his chin, sending him flying against the wall with the impact.
“Mason!!!’’ I screamed in horror.
The devil in black clothing resumed pulling me out before I could as much as react, and all I could do was scream Mason's name as I watched him wince painfully on the floor.
Ian didn't stop dragging me until we got to the red car from yesterday, which I now believe belonged to him. He opened it and flung me inside, and all my attempts to push the door back open and escape proved abortive.
“Why are you doing this?! What exactly do you want from me? Why hurt Mason!’’ I screamed my heart out as he joined me in the car.
“Say his name one more time and I'm going to kill him, princess.’’
Words died in my throat. I couldn't tell if he was bring sarcastic at all right now but one thing was certain; he could do it. He could hurt Mason so terribly even if he doesn't kill him.
How could I have thought Orsian was the scariest all along? Ian was the devil himself!
The ride to wherever he was taking me was slow and long, sucking the air out of the car every sickening mile farther we went from the packhouse.
He finally swerved into large iron gates. A gigantic building appeared before us, roughly seven floors, planted amidst a sea of luxurious cars parked all round the corners.
Ian parked and stepped down first to open the door for me since he wouldn't want me to disappear before he got a hold of me. He took me out the exact same manner he'd dragged me in and resumed pulling me away until we approached the reception glass.
Then I saw it.
Diamonds Hotel & Suites.
He….
He had just brought me to a freaking hotel?
