NINE

In MMORPG games there is something called aggro. When a player gets close to a monster to a certain extent, that said monster will enter a combat state with the player character. In instances that multiple players aggro a single monster the players that dealt the most damage will get attacks. 

Genesys also has an aggro system but unlike most MMORPG. It closely follows the rules of reality. Monsters in Genesys have a different set of A.I. Players cannot manipulate monsters just by going in and out of its aggro range. If a monster spotted a player it was up to the monster if it wanted to chase them or not. 

Leon with rocks in hand walks closely at one of the wandering Lv.5 grey hyenae. Seeing that he was close enough, he threw the rock hitting it in the head. 

"Grrrrrr" infuriated, the grey hyena looked around trying to find out where the rock came from. Not long after it saw a figure hiding in one of the large rocks.

“Ahooooo” Spotting a prey, the grey hyena calls out his pack. 

The Grey hyena is one of the many monsters in Genesys that have a pack mentality. They don't fight alone so they are vain for any solo player to deal with. 

Not long after, three grey hyenas answer their comrades call.  

Knowing what’s about to go down, Leon immediately ran away. He plans to use grey hyenas' love of hunting to his advantage.

"Come on kitty, kitty!"  Slashing his hand with a sharp rock. He let his blood fall to the ground using them like bread crumbs for grey hyenas to follow, slowly leading them near the party of players that are busy battling a group of Lv.4 grey goblin. 

As he planned, the grey hyenas notice the undergoing battle. Seeing a much better meal, they change target, immediately pouncing the healer of the party. 

The healer noticed the approaching hyenas and alerted his party. "Some assh*le lured a bunch of Grey Hyena on us."

To combat the approaching monsters the party immediately changes their formation, placing the healer in the middle while the rearguard is tasked to attract the grey hyenas aggro. 

'Oh, they are quite good.’ Leon observes the battle while leisurely sitting on a rock. He was not worried that the players might survive and kill him. Although he was surprised that they were much better than he thought. It was still impossible for them with their party of five to deal with the assault of both grey goblins and hyenas while battling on two fronts. 

Like he predicted, the first piece of dominos' fall. The party only healer eventually couldn't keep up with the damage. 

"s**t, I'm all out of mana," said the healer. 

Unwilling to accept his faith the party vanguard cursed."f*****g asshole! If we found out who you are we will f*****g kill you!" 

Meanwhile, Leon is watching as everything unfolds, enjoying the show. ‘If you want my head you have to get in line, hehehe.’ He chuckles

With the death of the party’s vanguard, there is no one to hold the grey goblin back. Not even a minute pass and the whole party is wiped out. Leaving a bunch of equipment laying on the ground for Leon to take. 

Leon smiled, he didn’t immediately go down and pick up the parties drop as he knows that things ain't over yet. ‘The second part of the show is about to start.’

Following the death of the party, another brutal fight went underway. The grey goblin and grey Hyena battle it out for the party's body. 

Although monsters seem to be mindless and only meant for the players to gain experience. They follow a complex structure like the animal in the real world. Monsters in Genesys have what players called the monsters kingdom. As monsters have different sets of A. I in them. Monsters of the same kind tend to group and monsters of different kinds tend to kill each other. Some strong monsters even made weaker monsters their slave. 

After a gruesome fight, the group of Grey Goblins emerge victorious, with their ability to hold weapons, they have a distinct advantage over the grey hyena. 

Tired and wounded all over their body, the gray goblins are already halfway to their grave. 

Seeing his opportunity has come, Leon finally made his move.

"Time to loot!" Leon quickly approaches the wounded goblins. 

Alarmed of the appearance of a new enemy the group of goblins immediately charges at Leon. 

Witnessing the charging goblin Leon just smiles. Although the goblins have way higher stats than him, they are already severely weakened, their movements are slow, and have a lot of openings. Most of all there's a lot of wounds in different places of their body, places that can be exploited as a weakness. 

Easily dodging one of the goblins stabs, Leon grabs its arm redirecting it to stab the other attacking grey goblin. 

"Critical!" The rusty knife hits the large wound in the goblin's stomach and it falls to the ground dead. 

"3 more to go." Not wasting any time, he then grabbed one of the goblins' heads slamming it to the ground. 

Seeing their comrades in trouble the two goblins simultaneously attack Leon.  

With rusty knives in their hand, they jump, trying to stab Leon on the chest. 

Seeing the goblin in the air. Leon smirk, using his reach advantage. He caught the two goblins mid-air, slamming their heads together. 

"Bang!" the grey goblins are stunned. Not allowing them time to recover, Leon repeatedly punches the wounded area in their body.

"Critical!"

"Critical"

"Critical"

A dozen critical notifications sounded in Leon's ears but he ignored it. Seeing that the two goblins are still alive, he unleashes another barrage of punches. 

Finally, after another dozen punches the two goblins died.

"Hah! Hah! One more to go" Breathing heavily, Leon approaches the grey goblin still laying in the ground, playing dead. 

Using his foot he repeated stomp on the goblin's head, completely squashing it.

"Done! Hooo! I need to do some cardio, this s**t tiring." Leon said jokingly.

With green blood all over his body, he smiled, admiring his work.

“That was easy.” He was not surprised that he learned hand to hand combat skill and that it was already in level 15. As Genesys somewhat copy reality, skills in the real world can sometimes translate into Genesys. Some players with considerable skills in the real world can even get a Lvl.50 skill even if they just started playing the game.

Closing the notification window, Leon moves to the party's corpse and checks on his gain. 

With a sinister smile, he said "What a bountiful harvest, I forgot how exhilarating this feels."

Leon immediately equipped the iron sword, leather armor, and leather boots. It was a pity that he was still unable to equip the chainmail but he was still happy, at least now he did not look like a complete noob. 

While Leon is enjoying his new equipment, he heard a series of growls. “Grrrr!”

Five hyenas in perfect condition have shown up, following the scent of blood.“F*ck!”

With sword in hand, Leon ready his stance. ‘I can’t believe I made such a newbie mistake.’

“Let’s dance kitty.” To not allow the grey hyenas to encircle him, Leon decided to make the first move. He charged at the hyenas who had fallen a bit far behind the others. Knowing that it was impossible to break the hyena's defense with his stats. Leon decided to aim for a critical which ignored defense completely.

With the hyena being caught off guard by his sudden charge. He thrusts his sword aiming at its eyes.

Increase damage when using a sword type weapon.

Effect: Increased damage 48%  

Leon ignores the series of notifications. He didn’t want to lose this chance. Being pierce in the eye, the grey hyena wails in pain, seeing an opening Leon once again thrust his sword to its injured eye.

Leon's sword pierces through the hyena’s eyes all the way to its brain. With two-strike, he manages to slay a hyena in perfect health.

“Who’s next?” Feeling his intimidating presence, the remaining four hyenas halt their advance.

Your presence alone makes the enemy cower in fear.

Effect: Lower weak will enemy stats by 5%

‘Damn, I only get Lv.1. In the past, I had this skill in Lv.35. It should have made my life easier if this skill level is a little higher’ Although disappointed, he already knows the reason for it. As [intimidating presence] was the skill of his past character White, not his true skill it did not translate to his new character.

Not wanting to lose his momentum, Leon pressed the attack. Using his arm, he throws the grey hyenas corpse to the closest hyenas. 

“Thud!” The hyena looked at the dead hyenas scared.

Repeating what he did in the first one, he thrust his sword in the hyena's eyes, hitting it. But as he was about to pierce the other eye, the other hyenas snap out of their fear and rush over him.

“Damn!” Leon immediately withdrew his attack and rolled to the ground to evade. 

The hyenas didn’t let the opportunity slip by and they attacked Leon as he was still in the ground.

Seeing this, Leon grabs the Vanguard Player corpse and use it as a meat shield.

The hyenas followed their instinct feast at the corpses, giving Leon a breath of relief.

Leon now has two choices: To fight or run away.

As he needed the monster's corpse for his plan, he decided to fight.

Exploiting the hyenas' defenseless state, Leon attacks the wounded hyenas, piercing its brain.

“Alright. 3 more”

Seeing that someone dared to disturb their meal, the hyenas once again attacked Leon. Unlike the rock slime that only knows one attack, Hyenas have several ways to kill Leon, and it only needs to hit him once to kill him.

One of the hyenas jumps trying to bite Leons’ neck, seeing that, he thrust his sword at its mouth.

Although he managed to plunge his sword at the hyena’s mouth, it wasn’t enough to pierce all the way through. Quickly retrieving the hammer in his inventory, Leon smashes it at the sword in the hyena's mouth, sending it all the way through the hyena’s body.

With the blood of the hyenas dripping over his face, he looked at the two remaining hyenas. “Two more!”

[Congratulations! your Intimidating presence level up to Lv.2]

Once again, intimidated by Leon’s presence, the two remaining hyenas run away not wanting to deal with him anymore.

“Whoa! That's tiring!” Looking at the corpses lying all around him, Leon sat down completely exhausted.

At that moment, a notification was given to every player in Ganiyu village. 

[Guild LZT has activated the Ganiyu Village conquest quest. Player of Ganiyu Village report to the village chief immediately and prepare for battle.]

“I guess it's not the time for me to rest yet.”
