Aiden’s POV
Did she just say fine?
She turned immediately and started walking out without looking back. I felt lost…furious. But it’s for the best.
Mrs Walter called after her, “Gabriella, where are you going?”
Gabby paused at the doorway, sarcasm dripping from her voice. “I’m going to get some stuff from my room, then I’ll go to Ethan’s place to share the wonderful news.”
Then she was gone, her footsteps fading up the stairs.
The table went quiet for a beat after she was gone. I sat still, staring at my plate. Part of me had secretly hoped she’d rebel, scream and act stubborn. Fight it like she always fought everything else. But that wasn’t Gabby when it came to me. She always listened. Like a good little girl.
