If the sun would not touch her skin then she would not burn. She would not suffer anything that would leave her mother evidence that she had went outside. If indeed she ends up not able being able to venture too far and she gets caught before she is able to get where she wants to go.
She just wanted to see another person, another human being, and interact with them and see exactly what people do think of her. But she was strange looking compared to her mother compared to other women she had seen on pictures and on video. She was really strange.
