No matter how hard she tried, Vanessa couldn't stop the tears from welling up in her eyes. She really didn’t know why she felt like crying. Maybe she wasn’t as over Stanley as she thought she was.
She thought she would’ve hated him for what he did to her, abandoning her before her child was even born, but she realized she didn’t hate him. She might have strong feelings of wanting to bash his skull in, but she didn’t hate him.
As soon as Stanley started making his way over to them, Vanessa grabbed Mia's hand and told Jessica - no she begged Jessica - to take her home.
Jessica thought that her friend was acting weird, and all the sudden she wanted to go home when they were enjoying themselves. Jessica had no idea what took place behind her, the reason for Vanessa to be this worked up.
