Chapter Two

1556 Words
Stanley was sitting in his office going through paperwork like the usual that his days are filled with. At this moment in time however he had a raging headache that just seemed to like torturing him. But he kept telling himself that he deserved to feel the pain, it reminds him that he’s human and he can feel pain like any other human. His secretary Lisa came over the intercom, "Sir there's a Tanisha Hayes here to see you." She told him. The buzz of the intercom only served to heightened the pounding in his head which then aggravated him even more. "Send her in Lisa." He growls out. He's had enough of this. This woman needed to know and have it engrained in her head that he wasn’t interested in her. The little tumble they had in the sheets was only that, a tumble in the sheets. She agreed to this, she knew exactly what she was getting herself into. Why did all these women that he got himself mixed up with think that it’s okay to overstay their welcome. It’s not! "Stan." Her high pitched whiny voice greets his ears and his head starts pounding even harder than before. "What do you want Tan?" He asked exasperatedly without looking up from his paperwork. He already knew what she looked like, no need to burn his eyes with the image. "I'm sorry babe, but I think I maxed out your credit card." She says. He finally looks up at her and holds back the laugh that wants to burst out of his mouth by biting down on his lips. Just as he predicted, she was dressed in the skimpiest clothing she could find which today, was a small piece of cloth covering her boobs and barely covering her ass. It couldn’t be called a dress because he was a 1000% sure that his table cloth is much longer than what she was wearing. She sees him biting his lips, thinking that he's thinking of her, when in reality he only wants to laugh so hard his belly hurts. She started twirling her hair around her finger, trying to give off that innocent flirty look. Nothing was innocent about her. She thinks she maxed out my credit card. He snorts internally. "Darling" He says coolly when all he wanted to do was yell at her "My credit card can't be maxed out." "Then why did the lady at the store say that it was maxed out then?" Her voice getting even higher in pitch making him wince. "Because I put a limit on it." He answers calmly. "But why would you do that?" She stomps her feet like a spoilt child. "Because I can.” His patience was now at its end. “Now listen here, pick your bags up and get the f**k out of my office. I don't want to see your face again or hear your whiny voice. You're giving me a headache, leave!" He demands as the blonde stands before him, mouth open gaping at him. "But you said you loved me." She says sadly. "I lied. Now out!" He shouts. “And don’t forget to leave the card on the desk out front.” She turns on her heels and scampers out of his office, tears streaming down her face. This is a sight that Lisa Myers have gotten used to in the time that she has started working for Stanley. She's been his secretary for over three years so it's been a lot of times she's seen this. Lisa believes her boss is still hung up on the pretty accountant that he had managed to get a hold of three years ago. He's been growling at everyone in the office ever since she got news that her boss and the accountant were over. What happened to them she didn't know, but she was going to find out if it was the last thing she did. She hated seeing him like this. He might not want to admit it but he loved the accountant, he just needed to come to terms with it. "Shall I find you a new one?" Lisa asks her boss as she saunters into his office without knocking. Normally just barging into his office without knocking was a sure way to get your ass fired, but since this was her, she was okay for now. "No. What I need you to find me is a good bar that I can drown this headache in." Stanley answers. "That's not wise." She answers him. "I don't want to hear what's wise and what's not okay, just do what I tell you." He demands. "No." She says to him. "Lisa." He warns. "Stanley." She warns right back. This was also normal behavior for both of them. "f**k, I need to fill my stomach with some food." He breaks their gaze and grumbles as soon as his tummy starting making mating calls. Lisa cracks a small smile at that and got to ordering the stubborn man some lunch. No one seemed to understand how the secretary and their boss has such a close relationship, they're even on first name basis. What they didn't understand was that Stanley and Lisa were best friends in high school. They unintentionally cut off their relationship throughout the years, until Lisa got a call that a powerful businessman was looking for a secretary. She just couldn't pass up the offer when she saw that the business man was her once best friend. And now here she is almost four years later, still working for him. She couldn't be happier. "Why don't you just hire a PI to find her if she is so evasive." Lisa states rather than asks. "If I can't find her, no PI can." He grumbles already knowing who Lisa was talking about. "Stan, you're not a PI, how bout you just hire one to find her and stop wallowing in self pity." Lisa orders. His lips quirks up at the corners. "Last time I checked, I'm the one that gives orders." He says smiling. "When it comes to you and your well being, I give the orders." She states. "Just like high school." He mutters as he rubs his hands harshly over his face. "When was the last time you got some sleep?" Lisa glares at him. "Three years ago." He growls out getting annoyed at her constant pestering. "You should be a mummy right now." She mutters as her tablet pings with a notification that the lunch she ordered is on its way up. "Your lunch is on its way. Eat it and then get the hell out of here to get some sleep. I'll handle everything." She orders. "Absolutely not." His head shot up and it starts with the pounding again. "Fuck." He growls. "Get an abortion." "Absolutely not." She screeches. He couldn't believe how stupid he was to ever tell a woman to kill the life inside her. What if someone had said that to his mother, he wouldn't have been here right now. "I'm so f*****g ashamed of myself." He hung his head. He’s been thinking about his actions for the last three years. It bothered him every single day from the day that it happened. When she hauled ass out of the diner and he never saw her again, he knew that she meant what she said about ruining him. He knew that Vanessa was a strong woman, it was drew him to her in the first place. She was strong willed and very stubborn, but she was also very intelligent, someone that he knew would stay by his side, so why he messed up the one chance that he had with her? He had no idea. He panicked at the thought of having a child, he never thought that he was ready or even capable of taking care of a child, but he should have known better that Vanessa would have been right there with him taking care of their little family. "Stan don't beat yourself up about it." Lisa says as she rounded the desk to run her hands through his silky strands. She used to do it all the time after an antagonizing slow day at school. Lisa made a vow right that second that she will use the entire technology that Stanley has, to find this woman of his. There was a knock on the door, interrupting him from moping any longer. "Come in." He says in his authoritative voice all signs of a headache gone, but that was only for show. "I got an order for spicy hot wings and blackened ribs with hot sauce." A young man says stepping inside his office. "You ordered blackened ribs with hot sauce for me?" He says his mouth tilting in a smile. "I know it's your favorite." Lisa answered. "And two Cokes." The young man handed them another bag with the drinks. "Thank you." Lisa thanked him and gave him the money she knew like the back of her hand and gave him a big tip with it. "Pleasure doing business with you as always." The young man bowed and sauntered out the room. "Dig in." She grinned at him.
