Stanley knew that his behavior was slightly as that of a stalker, but he knew he had to do this. He also knew that he owed Jessica everything for getting Vanessa to come out with him. If he tried to get Vanessa to come with him by himself, he probably would've ended up without any nuts, so he owed Jessica big time for this.
Following Vanessa around everywhere today and losing out of work was totally worth it when he saw the way she looked. He would've done it a thousand times over if he could see her like this again.
He expected her to lash out at him when she saw that he was on the other side of the door. He didn't expect her to mutter the words, 'why am I not surprised?'
