"Damn it!" I kicked the bed across the room as I paced the suite. "Calm down, Nero. Talk to me." Blanche pleaded. I raked my hands through my hair as I paced. "I need to know the truth!" I yelled in anger. "You have to talk to me. Maybe I can help." Blanche said. I took a deep breath trying to calm Noxin. "I saw some things..." I spoke. Blanche stared at me in shock, then fear. Her body was tense, and she seemed alert. "Nero..." Emotion filled her voice as she spoke. "What?" I asked, concerned.
"Witches cannot project the future into others' minds." Blanche stated. She's not a dragon either. Noxin linked me. Then what is she? I thought to myself. "She showed me some things... Random images. But... There was something I picked up on vividly." I searched my mind for the best description. "There is a forest somewhere with ancient caves. They have been sealed. There was a sigil on the ground in a circular pattern. The forest was thick, but there wasn't a presence of good or evil there.
It was almost like it was abandoned long ago." I explained. Blanche seemed to be in deep thought. "What else was there that stuck out to you?" She asked. "There was a sound of running water, but it sounded like it was underground." Blanche was now pacing back and forth trying to figure out where my image was. "There are 4 forests with waterfalls: Dermesus, Oreshe, Ephasia, and Shineti." She thought for a minute. "Dermesus doesn't have any sigils in the grounds. Oreshe is just a myth now, and Ephasia is taken over by wolves.
Wolves and witches do not get along so there wouldn't be any sigils there. Though, we could still check for good measure." She twisted her white hair around her finger as she thought. "We would have to go see tonight, when the guards aren't as alert. When they think we're sleeping." She spoke. I agreed with a nod, knowing it would be best to leave immediately. Still, something bothered me. "That woman... Raisha." I started and paused. I knew I needed to see her again. She knows something important. I know it.
"I need to know what she was going to say." I paced. "We will... But for now, we need to pack and get ready." Blanche got together a jacket and some weapons together while I polished my favorite weapon. We waited until nightfall and Blanche put a glamour on herself. I fazed myself out so I was invisible, and we snuck past the soldiers. "What do you think the King is going to do?" A woman soldier asked another soldier. "I don't know. I wonder why he has us following them. We aren't going to find anything out about two historians."
The male soldier answered. "Witches cannot be historians." Seranio walked up to them. They stood at attention until he told them not to. "Who is a witch?" The male soldier asked. "The girl." Seranio answered. "She looks normal. She has black hair and grey eyes." The woman soldier responded. "Glamour is a thing." Seranio took a sip of his drink. "And you know this to be a fact?" The male soldier asked. "The King has his suspicions of her." Seranio trailed off.
There was more judging by his facial expression, but he would never let that be known. Let's go. Blanche linked. I phased us to the outside of the castle, and we used our invisibility until we knew we were in the clear. Mind link me until we get where we need to go. I linked Blanche. She nodded and we moved quickly through the gravel. Gravel gave away into forest lands, and the forest lands. We have about two hours of running before we reach the halfway point. Blanche linked.
We took off immediately, letting the forest blur as we weaved between large trees. The skies peeked through the trees in a dark blue color, and I phased back in about 10 minutes into our sprint. My hood flapped in the wind as I let the wind brush my skin. We stopped after about an hour and sat. I do not want to keep going right now. Only because we need to be prepared. I said. Well, what is the plan? Blanche asked. We should jus-- I started. Nero. Noxin linked.
We heard a rustle when someone shot at my shoulder. I quickly spun to dodge it, letting my body get low to the ground before I sprinted in the direction of the bullets. There was a person with their face mostly covered and a weird black outfit on. They looked like they were ready for war. I collided into the culprit, flinging them into a tree. Their body hit the tree with a sickening thud that echoed into the forest. As they lie on the ground unconscious, two more people came out and attacked. They swung knives in all directions, using one hand to s***h and the other hand to stab. I quickly dodged every attack, allowing my body to stay low.
I swiped their legs from under them and out distance between us as they hit the ground. Leaves rustled as they jumped back up and came charging at me. They swung their knives and I continued to dodge. They were fast and agile. Opening. Nero linked. I swung and kicked my leg out, hitting both people in the stomach. While one stumbled and tried to stand, the other flew back into Blanche’s leg. She swung her leg up and kicked the person’s teeth out as they were midair. They lie on the ground unconscious while I took care of the other person. “You are furious.” I said amused. The look on his face said that he was ready for blood. “You don’t know who you’re dealing with.” He spoke. His voice…
I narrowed my eyes. “You’re that soldier from the castle.” I said matter of fact. He didn’t respond. He charged at me, letting his body collide with My chest. The air was knocked out of me as I ground my feet into the ground to make him lose momentum. Let me. Noxin linked. Not yet. I responded. I flipped the soldier over me and slammed his body into the ground. He fought to get up and swung wildly. I straddled his body to pin his arms and legs down. “Why are you following us?” I asked after he realized I was never going to let him get up.
“Im not telling you anything!” He yelled. I sighed. Nox. I linked. On it. Noxin responded. “Tell me what I need to know.” Noxin took over. My voice deepened dramatically and my eyes glowed. He struggled for a split second to fight compulsion before he spoke. “The King knows something about her!” He looked at Blanche. “What about her?!” Noxin spat. The soldier tried to fight against my compulsion. The more he fought, the more it hurt. “Aghhh!” The soldier screamed.
“It won’t hurt if you answer my questions! I will fry your brain if you don’t answer me.” Noxin said that last part calmly. Sometimes, I wonder why I let him take over. “He knows she’s from a direct dragon bloodline. He wants to know why she left and who you are!” The soldier sweat and cried as he spoke. Okay, Nox. I linked. Noxin released the compulsion, but not before he spoke. “You will not move.” Noxin told the soldier. The soldier nodded his head vigorously. Noxin rolled his eyes and I stood up. “What are you?!” The soldier cried. “Somebody you never want to mess with.” I said with my back turned to him.
I kicked his hand as he pulled out a knife. My eyes glowed and he drew in a shaky breath as he saw them. “I could kill you where you lay! Do not try anything else! You are lucky I’m being kind.” Noxin spat. The soldier trembled as he sat. I dragged all the soldiers in a circle and waited for them to wake up. I took all their weapons and waited. One by one, they woke up. They all searched around frantically for their weapons. “Don’t move!” Noxin command. Everyone sat still. My eyes glowed and they all tried to move, but to no avail.
“You were not here. You thought you had a lead, but you didn’t. Blanche is not a powerful witch and anyone who says otherwise is lying. You will convince them that you know she isn't a powerful witch. Do not come back here, pick up your weapons, and forget you saw us." Noxin commanded. We phased out and took off towards our first destination: Ephasia.
We'll wing it.
