CHAPTER 2

Samara

"She smells odd."

"How the hell did she appear here?"

"Did you see her dive in the pool?"

"Who will dive in that pool? Authorities prohibited that because the pool is already 500 years old!"

I keep on hearing murmurs from somewhere, they were muffled but they're there. My weight felt so light at this moment, I was about to think that I'm already dead but the sensation of water hitting my skin was too evident to ignore. I am still alive?

Darkness filled my vision but I quickly adjusted to my surrounding, it dawned on me that I am inside a black pool. Upon my realization, I quickly went up to the surface to gasp for air. I almost drowned if I didn't wake up in time. What am I doing here? Am I really alive?

"So, I am not dead yet?" I whispered.

I looked around and saw people with odd clothing styles looking at me. Maybe it's true that "doom" is my second name. They were staring at me as if I'm an alien, a foreign being for their eyes. I know I'm pretty and people tend to look at me most of the time that's why I frequently gain attention, but this is insane! This is too embarrassing for me!

"Call the authorities now! Maybe she is a fugitive!"

"Give alert to the king and council!"

My eyes widened when someone said "call the authorities," this feels like déjà vu. I immediately went out of the pool and I was surprised for a second. I can't believe that I was able to move a lot given the situation I was in earlier, I was sure my body was soaked in that black water for hours. And to be frank, it's aching so bad that's why I'm really wondering how the hell can I move this fast?! A police officer was nearby but I managed to run as fast as I can and hide somewhere. Dirt was on my body, I tripped earlier and fell on a mud puddle. Now my whole body is wet and covered with dirt.

After hiding for a minute or two, I ran again as fast as I can. I'm sure I'm already out of the authorities' sight but I still need to find a place to stay the night. I saw a cabin beside the lake. I jumped to the water and hid under the cabin because half of the cabin was exposed under the lake.

Remembering the people and the sight I saw earlier, I am still wondering how on earth did I appear and wake up inside that pool in a completely different place when the last thing I can clearly recall is being hit by a truck.

"Is this the afterlife? Am I already dead?" I murmured.

But hell, I am not a cat! I don't have nine lives and the impact caused by the truck earlier can surely kill me! What the hell happened to me?

I will investigate for the answer, but in the meantime, I have to find a place to stay for the night. I can't hide under this cabin till morning, I badly want to sleep! I'm thinking maybe someone kidn*pped me or Alaska sent me to a province. I will really kill them! Nanay Indang and Tatay Basilyo are surely worried about me by now.

After hiding for almost 10 minutes, I went out of the water. I walked to find another place to stay where no one can see me. It is too dangerous to be seen here. All eyes are on me. Even the place is not familiar to me.

While running in the middle of this forest, I heard something ringing. When I looked around, I saw a bunch of soldiers running towards me. I realized where that ringing sound was coming from specifically, it was from the metal clanging from their waist. How the hell can I hear that!?

I am on the verge of running away again but my eyes widened when a soldier swiftly ran to me and pinned me to the ground. He even handcuffed me within a second or two. How did he do that? It was a matter of seconds!

"How did you do that, officer?" I asked the man who's holding me.

"Do what? You are unbelievable," he said. Like I was the abnormal and peculiar one, not him.

I let them drag me until we reached a police mobile. The place looks old and medieval but the technology was the same as where I used to live. I am certain that I am alive. I just don't know where am I and how did I appear here out of nowhere.

After minutes of traveling, we stopped at a big gate. They dragged me out and the big gate opened. My mouth widened because of the view. A big, gorgeous, and old medieval castle was in front of me. This is the first time that I have managed to see a castle this close.

"The king requested your presence because you smell odd. He sees something peculiar in you. Do something bad and the king will not hesitate to kill you," one of the police officers stated.

King? A monarchy? I am living in a country where the people choose candidates to run the government, this is certainly not my country. I am more curious now. Where am I? Am I in the United Kingdom or some part of Europe? That is not possible, I don't even have a passport!

They pushed me inside a room. My face slapped the ground so hard but I managed to get up. They were so quick, I didn't even notice that they removed my handcuffs.

Minutes after, someone knocked at the door. I opened it and a middle-aged woman appeared. She held a dress in front of me and I accepted it. It was a red maxi dress. There was a slit in front and the straps were spaghetti style. I went to the bathroom to wash my body. After washing, I changed my clothes. Now, I smell nice and fresh. The next thing I need to do is to escape from this mysterious castle.

I looked down from the window. My floor was too high from the ground and I can't use the blankets as a rope to go down. That will be the death of me.

With slow footsteps, I opened the door. I froze for a second when someone was standing in front waiting for me. She is one of the maids. Same uniform with the woman who knocked earlier. But that didn't stop me from escaping. I pushed her and shouted sorry before running so fast. Because of the impact, she didn't catch me.

"I need to escape from this castle. Where is the exit? This whole place is made of abnormal and weird-acting people!" I murmured.
