When Vikas and the young master of the Dubey family heard Aryan's words, they almost coughed up blood in anger.
Aryan continued, "People fight for wealth. There is nothing wrong with that. Strength alone is not always enough. We also have to ensure that our people do not get injured. While all of you were fighting, I kept my people in reserve. Did I say anything wrong?"
Vikas and the young master of the Dubey family replied, "Aryan, don't get ahead of yourself. We still outnumber you. What if all of us join forces and attack together?"
Aryan calmly answered, "How many days have all of you been running around? You fought the entire day and now you're talking about attacking together, while my people have done nothing but rest. If you still want to fight, that's your choice."
The two young masters gritted their teeth in frustration.
Aryan then said, "I don't want much. I'll be straightforward. There are more than fifty Ninth-Grade medicinal herbs here. I will take only twenty-five. You can divide the rest however you like. It makes no difference to me."
Vikas wanted to argue, but before he could speak, Aryan turned to his people and shouted, "Everyone, gather the herbs and leave immediately. Someone is coming."
Everyone looked at Aryan in surprise.
"Hurry up and collect everything," he ordered.
The group quickly took their share. Afterward, Aryan said, "Let's leave. We've already obtained what belongs to us."
With that, Aryan, Alia, Rakesh, and Priya departed.
After they left, Vikas clenched his teeth and growled, "I won't let you go, Aryan. One day you'll fall into my hands. I'll grind you into the ground and kill you."
Nearby, Latika had been observing everything. She asked the old man standing beside her, "Aryan just said that someone was coming. Did you sense anything?"
The old man nodded.
"Yes. I can sense several beasts at the Seventh and Eighth Stages approaching this area."
Latika was shocked.
"How did he know?"
The old man shook his head.
"I don't know. It seems he sensed something. While he was looking around, he never even glanced in the direction from which the beasts were coming. Perhaps he simply detected danger and decided to retreat."
Latika found that explanation reasonable. After all, Aryan currently could not cultivate, so she did not believe he had actually detected the beasts before anyone else. Most likely, he had merely sensed danger and chosen to leave.
However, after Aryan and his group departed, several powerful beasts attacked Vikas and his companions.
Only then did the young master of the Dubey family realize what Aryan had meant when he said that "many people" were coming. He had actually been referring to the beasts.
The young master cursed inwardly, while Vikas cursed openly.
Seeing the beasts charging toward them, everyone fled in panic.
Meanwhile, Aryan and his group had already escaped safely.
After traveling for some time, they arrived at another area.
"Let's stop here," Aryan said.
Rakesh noticed something in the distance.
"Look! There are many statues over there. What are those things?"
Aryan glanced over and replied, "I don't know. Should we go investigate?"
Then he looked again and noticed the crowd gathered around the place.
"No. There are already plenty of people there. Others are eager to take the risks for us, so why should we rush in?"
Rakesh nodded.
"You're right. We shouldn't risk our lives when others are willing to do the dangerous work."
Aryan was slightly stunned. He hadn't expected Rakesh to accept his reasoning so readily.
As they approached the area, everyone was surprised to find many elite warriors of the Singh family present.
Aryan noticed that several of them were injured.
When those warriors saw him, they immediately came forward and greeted him respectfully.
"Greetings, Young Master."
Aryan asked, "What happened to all of you? Why are you injured?"
One of them replied, "Young Master, we encountered several dangerous situations and barely escaped."
Aryan nodded.
"Heal your wounds first. Then tell me what's happening here."
The warriors explained:
"These puppets are very strange. If you step onto the first stair, you only have to fight one puppet and you'll receive a small reward.
On the second stair, you fight two puppets and receive a better reward.
On the third stair, you fight three.
On the fourth, four.
On the fifth, five.
The higher you climb, the more puppets you must fight, and the better the rewards become.
How far you can go depends entirely on your own ability."
Finally, Aryan understood the nature of this challenge.
At that moment, Rakesh eagerly said, "Then I'll go first!"
Alia immediately stopped him.
"I think you should observe for a while first."
Rakesh remembered that although Aryan could not cultivate, his judgments were almost always correct. Deciding to trust him, he held himself back.
The others did the same.
Soon, they noticed a young man from the Sharma family stepping forward.
He was extremely arrogant.
Looking at Aryan and the others with disdain, he sneered, "Watch carefully, trash. I'll show you how to climb to the top and obtain a great reward."
Many people's faces reddened with anger, but no one responded.
The young man stepped onto the first stair and easily defeated the first puppet.
On the second stair, he faced some difficulty.
By the time he reached the third stair, victory became extremely difficult.
He ultimately succeeded but dared not continue further. He knew that if he went any higher, he would almost certainly die.
Watching this, Aryan said thoughtfully,
"It seems these puppets adjust themselves according to the cultivator's realm. Their cultivation level matches ours, and they can use strength equivalent to ours.
In other words, we are fighting opponents as strong as ourselves.
First we fight one, then two, then three, and so on.
This is a method designed to test a person's true capability. Rewards are distributed according to one's performance.
It's actually a very effective way to measure talent and encourage people to improve."
Rakesh and the others agreed with his analysis.
Soon, as the Sharma family youth descended, many people surrounded him and mocked him.
"What's wrong? Weren't you bragging about how powerful you were?"
"You only obtained a low-grade spirit-recovery herb!"
"That reward merely restores spiritual energy!"
The crowd laughed and ridiculed him.
Ignoring the commotion, Aryan said,
"It seems that everyone will need to climb beyond the fifth stair if they want truly valuable rewards."
The others looked at him.
"So you're saying we need to reach at least the fifth stair before we can obtain good treasures?"
"Exactly," Aryan replied. "Only after the fifth stair do the rewards become truly worthwhile."
While Aryan was discussing the matter with everyone, Vikas and the young master of the Dubey family finally arrived.
Aryan looked toward them and noticed that they were severely injured.
He smiled inwardly, though his expression remained completely calm.
