Perched atop a hill, the cemetery loomed, still glistening from the recent rain when Sean arrived. Two bouquets in hand, he knelt at my parents' graves, remaining there from dawn until the last light faded from the sky. The caretaker's voice, soft and concerned, echoed through my phone. "Ms. Nelson, Mr. Lewis refuses to leave. He looks very upset." The wind whispered distantly as I absorbed his words. "Ask him to leave." "I have, but he insists on waiting for you." I ended the call. A nurse stepped in, offering me medication. "Ms. Nelson, is the pain still severe today?" I nodded silently, the medication doing little to ease the gnawing ache. Another buzz from my phone.
