Chapter Sixteen
Evening shadows had gathered and Kate sat, after hours, at the iMac in Billy’s office. She was running through the Ice Cream Dreams video one last time. Tomorrow she would deliver it to Tiger Kelly in the hopes he could find a buyer. A shadow passed across the computer screen and she jumped, a cry strangled in her throat.
“Oh god. Sorry,” Elaine gasped. “I didn’t mean to frighten you.”
Kate took a gulp and waited for her heart rate to drop. “Geez. I thought I was alone.”
Elaine held up a computer disc. “I promised this to Billy. It’s the User Manual for the iMac. I was just leaving and thought I would drop it on her desk. You okay?”
