This night was the first time she had specific intentions of sleeping in her quarters following the demon smackdown. Her back was wrecked from stealing cat naps in the steel med-fac chairs. She was in awe that the daily cleaning crew had tidied up her quarters and refreshed her linens. This made her feel like she was the Emissary herself. Her pristine bed heightened the anticipation of great sleep. She hadn’t received her stipend yet, but this was the epitome of living to her. Even if she didn’t get compensated at all, it was totally worth it. Her travel was chauffeured, she had housekeeping service, her meals were provided, she was experiencing exciting, new places, and she had a boss who seemed to value her.
