A lot had happened in the past month. Alex was maniac when it came to becoming stronger, that Fox had reached Rank 2 within the first 2 weeks after they had met. So with his help, Kyle was able to hunt Light attributed animals, and since they were much more stronger than him, the nourishment given was enough to elevate him to a Rank 2 also. Infact, if he trusted what the system announced, Kyle wouldn't need to eat Light attributed Mana Cores, only Fire attributed ones would do and those were quite common.
His evolution to a Greater Drake didn't change much, he had only became as high as 3 meters, hard scales which covered most of his body and a slight itch that occured around his shoulders from time to time. In the end, he still looked like a humanoid Drake.
In what seemed like a volcano, deep within the forest, the two friends rested as they let the Fire Mana concentrated in the area seep into their bones and increase their strength. This was another way of increasing one's strength in this world. It was called Cultivation. This requires you to gather Mana concentration from the air, absorb it into the body and use it to increase the purity of the Mana Core.
Most intelligent beasts did this when finding cores became hard or they were too lazy.
In truth, this volcano was owned by a quasi-Rank 3 Fire Serpent but it fell at the combined might. Cooperation during a fight was made easy when the magnificent skill called Telepathy came into play. It's core was what boosted Alex to the level 100s of the Rank 2.
Kyle had no qualms against that since the Fox was the reason he was in the Rank 2. So now they both enjoyed the bath of concentrated fire Mana. He increased by a level within 2 days while Alex got a level each week. This might seem slow but it was unbelievably fast for Rank 2 even among those eating cores!
'This place will lose its luster to us once we break into Rank 3.' Alex released what could be described as a sigh as he immersed himself within the lava of the volcano. His now three tails wagged with comfort as he
'We'll find another one then.' Kyle smiled as he placed a large fruit into his mouth. As this place was filled to the brim with Mana even the plants had evolved. The fruits now had Mana and nutrients only beasts could give which allowed them to avoid going outside to hunt for food and best of all, the trees needed no water or sunlight, only Fire attributed Mana which meant that they regrew faster than the duo were eating them. Of course that was only at the edges of the volcano.
'We hibernate again?' If the former Kyle heard what he himself was saying right now, he would faint because hibernation was the nature of beasts. This meant Kyle had fully accepted his race by now.
'Hmm.' Alex nodded and the two stuffed their mouths with food until their stomachs bulged before closing their eyes. Snores soon rang across the walls of the volcano.

Not too far away from the volcano were the duo slept, a group of people were gathered together by a camp looking at the peak of the volcano that surpassed the already tall trees.
The man at the front, who looked quite aged, cleared his throat to get the attention of the group. It featured 20 people, 6 were adults, including him, all radiating an aura at the peak of Rank 2 while the remaining 18 were teens of 16 years of age. The teens were members of the Belgrave Academy within their county[1].
"Okay I'll go over this one last time, after this. Our task today isn't that complicated. The Vulcas Volcano was inhibited by the Fire Serpent a week back. A scout of our academy reported that a battle unfolded between it and two beasts, a Fire attributed Three Tailed Fox and a Greater Humanoid Drake, both at Rank 2. This battle ended with the duo winning, that means they obviously possess power at quasi-Rank 3 when placed together. Our aim is simple, we will attempt to kill the two beasts. The Vulcas Volcano contains very valuable Fire attributed resources that could help our county.
As I've mentioned, the two Beasts have the combined strength of a quasi-Rank 3 but that's combined, we will divide into two teams to take care of them separately, no matter what they are not allowed to come within 5 meters of each other."
"And if we fail sir?" A boy at the back of the group asked as he clutched his wand.
The aged man sighed. "We hope they can still agree on a treaty, from my sources any beast that chooses cultivation over hunting contains at least a silver of intelligence. If that doesn't work then worry not, I brought a Spatial Transference scroll with me but I hope we can finish this mission. Credits will be given based on your contribution."
The students' moods seemed to have improved after as they smiled at each other.
"Rest is over, it's time to move forward." The man nodded with satisfaction before staring forward at the towering volcano. He then moved his sight to the two identical twins at the front of the teenagers. They both possessed blonde hair but the male had blue colored eyes while the female had green colored eyes. "Elijah, Elizabeth. I hope the two of you avoid trouble during this battle."
The twins smiled. "Mr Rogers, for the umpteenth time, we are normal students of the Belgrave Academy, not nobles."
Rogers laughed. "Still, I wouldn't want to anger Lord Brien."
