14 The plane droned over the Pacific. William returned to reading his book. There was nothing to look at but sea and more sea. When the intercom finally crackled with the announcement they were descending, William checked the window. Nothing was visible yet, but the island was so small he’d miss it if he read another page of his book. Only 350 permanent residents. Victory had more teens attending youth group. Would he go out of his mind with boredom? An excited chatter burst out from the other side of the plane. Zooming towards the airstrip, William only had time to glimpse the mountains carpeted in rainforest and the breathtaking blue-green of the lagoon.
