The rain came down in sheets as we drove along the road. The woman next to me moaned repeatedly as she readjusted herself. I reached up and felt my lip, and touched my neck. Both were tender to the touch. I was more afraid of whether Bob would find me again. I was confused about why his daughter and that boy came out to save us. It confused me. I didn’t know what to think about all of it. I had trouble keeping the car on the road. I pulled to a vacant parking lot and rested my forehead against the steering wheel. The adrenaline that kept me going up until now was starting to disappear, and I was beginning to be overwhelmed by many emotions all at once. I just sat there and let it all out.
