Episode 3: Here for Hudson

The hair at the back of her neck was on edge. Leighton stared at Nico, eyes burning with fear. "Who are you? How the hell do you know my name?" Her voice ran cold. "You don't have the right to any questions, princess," Dane spoke up, eyes flickering with anger. "Mr Anderson will be the one asking the questions here and you had better answer truthfully!" Victor scoffed loudly. "Who do you think you are to talk to lady Murray like that? Huh! Do you wish to see the bad side of the Bridge family?!" His eyes widened. Leighton took a step forward. "Who are you looking for? What is it exactly you want with the Bridge family?" Her voice wavered even though she tried to sound tough and unafraid. Nico stepped forward as well. Taking two steps towards her instead. "My name is Nico Anderson and I am here because of my old friend, Hudson Bridge." Her eyes widened in fear and Victor gasped as if he had just seen the devil himself. That name had not been mentioned within or even close to the walls of the Bridge mansion for almost a year now! Not because they forgot about him once existing but because it was banned! Not a single soul was meant to mention that name ever again. He should and must be treated like he never existed no matter how fresh he was in their memory. "Are you insane!" Victor yelled out. Mr Hedwig Bridge, the grandfather of the Bridge family and the man in charge of everything, had made it clear that no one should dare to speak that name or else he would punish them in ways that none of them could ever imagine. But this stranger walked up to them and said the unsayable with so much courage without even batting an eye! Who the hell did he think he was? Leighton's widened eyes immediately dodged Nico's gaze, her chest rose and fell abnormally and her fist clenched. "Wh--who is that?" Her voice trembled. "There-- there's no one like that in the Bridge family! Victor! Get the security team and send these men away from here at once!" "Yes ma'am!" Victor sharply responded. "The two of you are going to regret not listening to me from the start!" He looked just as shaken as Leighton, as if the fear of what just happened getting to Hedwig Bridge had gripped him by the throat. Just one tap on his phone and four men in black suits walked outside and stood by his side. "Men!" He ordered. "Take these two pieces of garbage to the trash and do it immediately and quickly!" "Yes sir!" They all echoed a response. One of them stepped forward towards Nico but Dane was there in a flash. Twisting his hand to the back, Dane gave him a hard blow to the chest and sent him flying. The other men backed up cowardly while staring at each other hesitantly about who should make the next move. "Who's next?" Dane asked with an arched brow. None of them came forward. "What is wrong with you cowards?!" Victor yelled out angrily. "This is what you are being paid for, so do your job!" "Shut it and just let us through! Mr Anderson is not in the mood for a killing spree today." Dane's eyes turned dark and grim. Victor stepped back. "You...! Who the hell do you think you are? That name you mentioned is not allowed here yet you so boldly say it and ignore our warning! Now you keep spewing threats, would you like me to have your tongue removed?!" His eyes grew wide even though he was cowering with fear on the inside. Dane's hand was around his throat before he realized it. "You just don't know when to stop talking do you?" His head tilted to the side as the tone of his voice mocked Victor. He turned to look at Nico as if for an approval to carry one and with a simple approval nod from him, Dane tightened his hold around Victor's throat. The man spat out blood and collapsed to the ground as Dane released him. Blood kept spilling from his mouth as he tried to talk. Taking out a handkerchief, Dane wiped his hand and threw it on Victor. The other men stepped back thoughtfully, not wanting it to be them in such a position. Leighton stared in horrific shock as the scene. Her eyes grew as wide as they could get as Nico started towards her. "Who-- who are you?" She stuttered. "Hudson is dead! Long dead! What the f*ck do you want?!" She yelled out. The next thing she knew, she had hit the ground hard. It all happened in a daze. The strong taste of blood filled her mouth and she spat it out. Nico crouched down in front of him and he glared at him teary eyed. "I don't usually hit women but you... You are not a woman to me... You are a monster. That slap was for my good friend, Hudson Bridge whom you and this power greedy family killed like some useless animal." Eying her up and down, he got to his feet and walked inside. Dane only scoffed and ignored her before going in after his boss. Leighton rose to her feet. "You dare hit me! You're dead! You're both dead!" She hurried in after them. Several men and women of high position and wealth in the city were there to celebrate the union of Randolph Bridge and Leighton Murray even though the wedding was days away. They were all indulged in conversations of their own, momentarily sharing laughs. Arriving inside, neither of them gave Nico a second glance, assuming he was no more than a part of the serving crew. Randolph was busy talking with Leighton's brother, Zack. "I am glad you could make it over today." "Oh you don't have to thank me! This is a celebration for my sister after all! I am glad to be here. You should have more wine by the way, I got an expensive one just for--" Cut off by the presence of a stranger, Zack eyed Nico up and down and asked. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" Nico, as always, had a cool expression on his face. "I came for the party, why? Am I not invited? Randolph Bride?" Randolph's brow arched thoughtfully. He didn't know the man that was standing before him but he wasn't surprised that he knew his name. He was a popular figure after all. "Listen uh... Whoever you are, I don't need such a terrible presence ruining my party so if you could please use the door, I'd be grateful." Nico smiled, for the first time in a while. His perfect set of teeth were in the open as he grinned. Reaching for Randolph's drink, he collected it and gulped it down. "Not bad." "Brother in law," Zack interrupted. "I think you are being too nice on this low life. Kick him out now!" "You're right. Victor?!" Randolph yelled. "Victor! Why would he even let such people in? Victor?!" "Victor won't be answering your calls tonight. He's... Occupied." Nico calmly said. Just then, Leighton dragged herself in, still feeling dizzy from getting hit by Nico. All eyes turned to her with a loud gasp. "Leighton!" Zack yelled out. "What happened to you?" He hurried to hold his sister before she collapsed to the ground. "Oh my God! Are you okay?" Blood stained the side of her mouth and her cheek was red and bruised. She raised a shaky finger at Nico and broke out in tears. Randolph never really cared about Leighton since they never intimately fancied one another. But he wasn't going to let a complete stranger ridicule him like that in front of everyone. "You dare raise a hand against her? Get ready to have that hand chopped off!!!" He roared. Nico scoffed a laugh.
