My mystery mate

Chapter 3

 I walk up the driveway to see my dad standing on the porch. 

He walks towards me with a stern face “we need to talk”. I nod slowly and sigh I go to walk into the house. “No Isla we are going for a walk” he says placing his hand on my shoulder. “Oh no this can't be good” I sigh and turn to walk with him. 

We  walk in silence for a mile before he turns and looks at me. “Listen darling I know your mother is irritating you about finding your mate in 3 weeks... But the truth is you could start sensing them any day now you are the daughter of an Alpha and soon to be one yourself. Your senses are heightened however finding your mate early isn't always a good thing. I don't want you to find your mate yet Isla you are still my little girl”. He says as we stop at the clearing on the edge of the forest. He turns and pulls me into his embrace.

“ Oh dad, you don't have to worry about me. I will always be your little girl even when I'm alpha”.

“I know sweetheart but I need you to do something very important for me. I need you to block your scent”.

“Why? why do I need to block my scent?” I say puzzled. “Isn't that the way my mate can find me?” 

He nods slowly. “Yes and there is another important reason to block it. I have had word from the old country the rogue king has left the old country in search of the other packs who fled”. I look up into my father's eyes “when did he leave we have to protect the pack” melody bursts through. 

“Calm melody we are safe he left 3 weeks ago and headed south we are fine for now. But I need you to take more responsibility”. I closed my eyes and nodded I was back in control. “Your 18th birthday 2 weeks today I will give up my title of Alpha to you. You will be our new pack leader.”

“But why? you said you wouldn't step down until I found my mate”. 

“That was never my plan, it was your mothers she thought it best to keep the pack strong. I know we don't need it, you are so strong willed and have the packs best interest at heart. Plus your birthday falls under the full moon. It will be a magnificent evening for it to happen”. I smile and know what I have to do. “I will leave college to focus on the pack work on the family business”

“Nonsense you finish this year the pack will be fine you have the greatest beta and delta”. “Dad I want to expand the family business and move it back to the old country”.

Sounds like you have big plans just be careful sweetheart. I will support your decisions”.

We talk some more about all the plans I have before we make our way back to the house night dad I say as we reach the front door I kiss him on the cheek as I run up the stairs to my room. I go straight into my closet and grab a pair of blue short pajamas and take them onto the bathroom where I take a nice hot shower it feels amazing as it hits my skin. I sigh as I think over the day. My mind takes me back to tryouts and the smell the amazing smell I need to find where it came from. “Mate” melody declares “it would make sense with what father had told us tonight but I need to be careful our hormones are going to be going crazy over the next 2 weeks best to keep a low profile and not think about the scent and who it would belong to” melody starts to sulk and pine longing to know who the scent that has her going crazy belongs to. I finish up on the shower throw on my pajamas and jump onto my bed. As I lay and drift off I continue to imagine who the scent could belong to with a smile on my face I am gone deep into sleep hopefully the Moon Goddess can help me.
