After gym, the rest of the day passed quite quickly. After I remembered I would go through heat soon, I just had to mention it to Jace. And his reaction was priceless. He looked horrified and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing every time I thought about it. I spent the rest of the school day waiting for the time to pass so Reese and I could confront Evie and Rowan about this morning. I still didn’t know what to call it and it was all I could think about. I kissed Jace goodbye, just because I felt like it, and I got into Reese’s black corvette. He smiled cheekily at me and I just hit him on the back of the head as payback.
“Ow! Why are you so violent?” He asked.
“Says you.” I spat back. It was true, we were both the violent type, but I was more vicious and vengeful. I do remember most of my childhood before we were attack by rouges. Reese and I were joined at the hip and if we weren’t being tolerable, we were fighting. Maybe that’s why it hit me so hard when we left, we were inseparable.
We returned home after a 10 minute drive and as soon as I walked through the door, I was attacked by a little monster.
“Denny!” Kai screamed as I picked him up and swung him on my hip.
“Hey buddy.” I replied, ruffling his hair. He giggled and his eyes started to glow, purposely. He was in this phase where he liked to glow his eyes. I smiled as I did the same. I stared at him with silver eyes and he laughed, turning to Reese who stalked in behind me.
“What about me?” He asked, pouting.
“No. Not you.” Kai pointed. Reese tried to act sad, but Kai started to giggle again. I carried him to Rowan’s office, where I know I’d find him. He was always in it when we were younger, and Evie would constantly scold it for him.
I burst through the door, not bothering to knock and chucked my bag off. Rowan put down the paper he was reading as I sat down in a seat with Kai on my lap. Reese did the same. “Explain.” He says.
"Talk.” I said at the same time. I turned to him and scrunched my eyebrows together in annoyance, he did the same thing. Rowan sighed as he put what he was reading down. “Hello my children, have a seat.” He said sarcastically, shaking his head. What caught my attention was that he called us our children. That made my heart swell and I could feel it did the same thing to Reese.
“Start explaining Rowan. What the hell are we?” Reese argued. I shook my head and started mucking around with Kai, poking his face as Reese spoke my thoughts. Other then the mind-link we shared, we did have this bond as siblings, as twins. It was like a mind-link, but only shared by the two of us and without closing it off, I could read his mind and feel what he was feeling. Rowan smirked a bit at Reese’s comment.
“You are just like me.” He confirmed. Reese and I stayed silent.
“But you are different.” Rowan started, putting his hands on his desk.
“Our mother was of witch blood. That’s why she had so many connections with other covens.” He started. I turned to Reese and he looked just as I did, confused.
“What does that have to do with anything?” Reese questioned.
“You’ll see.” Rowan started. “Your ‘powers’ come from the Archeron bloodline. I have them too.” He finished.
“So, you and Leah are the same.” I stated, confused to why I didn’t know this. Why didn’t I know this? Did Reese? It seemed like he didn’t.
"Not exactly." Rowan said.
“What do you mean, ‘not exactly’? What didn’t you tell us?” Reese exclaimed, shouting. I could feel his anger. I understand it, Rowan never told us, never told him. He was here longer than me. I glanced at Kai in my arms, he stared at Reese with eyes wide of confusion and at the same time, excitement.
“Go find momma.” I said quietly as I put him down and he ran out the door. I know words will be said and it would be best that he was not in the room to hear it.
“Our family originates from Selene. We do have certain gifts.” Rowan said.
“What do you mean gifts?” Reese argued. “How are we not like you, not like Leah?” Hearing Leah’s name reminds me of how much I missed her and her mate, Summer.
“Leah and I have the gift of healing, it runs in the family.” He explained. That doesn’t make sense.
“Healing? That doesn’t explain the lightening!” Reese yelled, reading my thoughts. He had just about every right to be just as mad as I was.
“You two seem to have more, more of the power. I haven’t seen anything like it, but it was prophesied by the witch covens.” Rowan said calmly and sarcastically. “The prophecies are a bunch of bullshit, but it seems that you two are powerful, both werewolf and witch.” He finished. I tried to breathe, control my anger. But I couldn’t say the same for Reese.
“That’s all this is?” Reese growled, hands glowing. Little embers of electricity crackled at his fingertips. Rowan seemed mundane, calm, but Reese was seething with anger.
“How does this involve the witches?” I ask, distracting Reese.
“Mum was raised with the European coven. We all have witch blood, but you two must have more.” Said Rowan. I nodded, finally understanding it a little.
“How are we going to control this, Denny almost snapped today.” Reese said angrily.
“I will teach you; we will train. I will teach you how to heal as well." Rowan replied. “You two must stick together. Keep it quiet.”
“This doesn’t explain how we don’t know about this, how Reese doesn’t. He was here with you the whole time.” I blurted out. A pained expression found it’s way on Rowan’s face, and Reese.
“We didn’t tell you because of the rouges. At the time they were tracking us, they would find out. It’s not a known fact and Evie wouldn’t let me tell Darius without Deanna.” Rowan clarified. I nodded, all completely silent.
“So, we have lightening out of our fingers, that’s cool.” I murmured. Rowan laughed and Reese snickered.
“So, you really are a witch?” Reese started. Great, now I will have to deal with his bullshit. "Or a witchling."
“Shut up! What about you?” I fired back. A witchling is what the witches would call their young, everyone knows that. He chuckled and continued asking Rowan questions.
“Can we tell our mates? Don’t we have to tell Jace anyway?” Reese asked, “This is his land.” I looked at them, both confused.
“Yes, we would.” Rowan then turned to me. “The royal pack as lived near the Crescent Moon pack, or on it’s land. It has ever since our grandfather when he first migrated here. And the Alpha is your mate, Deanna." Rowan finally explained.
“Makes sense.” I shrugged. Reese and Rowan continued the conversation about it. We would have to get up and train again, every day. I internally slammed my head against the wall for this. I never even slept properly and now I had to get up early. And how was I supposed to tell Jace about this? How was I meant to explain that I could heal people, have the power of electricity at my fingertips? This was going to be interesting.
----
It is around 8pm and we were all sitting down in the living room. Kai is sitting on my lap, but I can’t help but think about the conversation we had earlier. Not just the whole healing and witch-blood thing, but the fact that I forgot that Rowan was The King of the Werewolves. He was the Alpha of all Alpha’s and I completely forgot. When I thought ‘Royal’, I thought that we were just descended from Selene, the Moon Goddess. But no, I had completely forgotten that our family had responsibility. No wonder Rowan’s always working. He was keeping up with and ruling all of the werewolves and packs. Of course, all the packs had Alpha’s, but he was the King and Evie was his Queen. He did have a beta and guards, but out pack was secluded and separated 10 years ago. Just as I once was. He even had a delta, basically a third and we had warriors, like Aaron. I don’t know what this meant, me returning. I don’t know how I could even come back. I had not heard one word about the rouges or how our family was separated.
“I’m going to bed.” I announced. Evie kissed by brow and said goodnight, while I earned a punch on the arm from Aaron and Reese. I kissed Kai goodnight and I looked back at Rowan. He grinned at me, he looked happy, in complete bliss that the family was back together. I returned the gesture and walked upstairs to my room. I had a shower and found myself in bed, staring at the ceiling. I thought about training. How would Reese and I learn how to use this power we had? How did I even have this power in the first place and not know about it? Did Aaron even know? I sighed at the thought of waking up so early. What was the deal with me coming home? What happened to those rouges? I forced myself not to think about to many questions. I thought my head would explode. I was thinking about how close Rowan and Jace were. Apparently, he often came over to have personal meetings with the Alpha King. We were on his land, Ever since my grandfather apparently. I drifted off to sleep dreaming about witches, and not once did I wake up.
----
I woke up this morning around 5am. It was Wednesday and I was starting to go into heat. I groaned as I stalked down the stairs, in a simple red tank top and leggings. I trudged lazily into the kitchen and Evie was sitting in a chair, Kai half asleep in her arms. Her head immediately snapped towards me, understanding my current situation. She was basically my mother, I knew she would understand.
“Aww, Deanna. Stick with Jace today, okay?” She giggled. I frowned at her teasing. Without Jace in my presence, it would probably hurt like a b***h. I was about to gulp down a glass of water when she opened a cabinet and passed me a small green pill.
"This should help with the scent." Evie said and I gladly took the pill. I was not about to have random wolves all over me. After that, I grabbed an apple and made my way outside to the clearing where Reese and Rowan would be waiting.
Training wasn’t that bad; it was fun. Rowan taught us control and Reese and I had fun testing it out. When we started, I imagined the blue flow of electricity forming at my hands, and it worked. I was basically a walking taser and it was fun zapping Rowan. We tested the voltage of ours powers on Rowan, and by the end of it, he was wailing in pain.
“Now for healing. Try to imagine it being a certain colour, imagine the skin healing.” He explained. It sounded simple, but it really wasn’t. I collapsed to the ground in laughter when Reese accidentally shocked Rowan instead of healing him.
“You think you could do better?” Said an annoyed Reese.
“Obviously.” I scoffed. I walked over to Rowan and gently took his arm in my hand. He was bruised and burned, and I almost felt bad about it. I did what I was told and closed my eyes. I imagined white light flowing out of my hands, Rowans purple, charred skin mending. Soon, I opened my eyes to find blue bruised turning into tanned skin, red lashes knitting together. It sounded quite brutal. I smiled as I stood up again and smirked at Reese. “Good job Deanna!” Rowan congratulated me, looking at his arms in amazement.
“Whatever.” Reese rolled his eyes and stomped all the way back to the house like a child. When we through the door, it was about 7am and Reese went straight up to shower. Rowan walked into the living room and flopped onto the couch, his head near Evie and Kai. Kai’s head shot straight up from under Evie's neck and he jumped onto Rowan’s chest. Rowan groaned in pain and Evie snickered at him. “That’s what you get for trying to train them.”
I walked over and picked up Kai and placed him on my hip.
“It’s not my fault.” I quickly covered Kai’s ears. “They both hurt like a bitch.” He replied, complaining to his mate. Evie slapped him on the chest, rather harshly and Rowan got up to tackle Evie on the couch.
“Come on buddy, you’re parents are being annoying.” I whispered to him and I walked up the stairs and I barged into Reese’s room.
“Don’t you have any manners?” He asked, just putting on his shirt.
“Says you.” I countered. “I stole this little monster.” I finished, tickling Kai. He screamed in laughter as I chucked him onto Reese’s bed. Kai put his head on Reese’s pillow, eyes struggling to stay open. I lay next to him as he snuggled against my neck. I closed my eyes and found myself on the edge of sleep before Reese ruined it. “No you don’t. Once you fall asleep, it’s impossible to wake you up.” He then zapped me in the rib. I yelped in surprise at the shock of electricity and growled at Reese. Kai giggled and I looked at him.
“Don’t you start!” I glared at Kai, but I couldn’t stop myself from smiling. I showed him the little sparks of white light at my hands and he moved closer, eyes wide in amazement. He was about to touch my hands when Reese then scooped him up and placed him on his shoulders.
“Come on buddy, Denny needs a shower.” Reese said and he walked out the door, ducking to make sure Kai fit under the frame. I stepped into my room and hopped straight in the shower. I lazily went over my legs with a razor and washed my hair and body, free of sweat and dirt. I looked at my closet and I decided to mess with Jace today, since I am on heat. I slipped on some blue ripped jeans and a black cropped top. It went half-way down my stomach and had thin straps. It showed off my scars and tattoos, but I didn't really care. I grabbed Jace’s navy hoodie and put over my head, concealing my outfit until we get to school. When I was ready, I walked downstairs with my bag and kissed Kai on the head before stepping into Reese’s car. I plugged my phone into the aux, as usual and stared out the window. Today was going to be fun, I could just feel it.
