I was sitting in class, Chemistry I think it is, when the bell finally rang for second period. I basically jumped from my chair and ran out of the classroom, saying a quick goodbye to Katie and Mike. I looked at my schedule because it was only my second week at school and I don't know all my classes yet. I found my locker and I swapped my Chemistry book for English. I swung the door closed and turned to walk down the hall. But I was interrupted by an overly cheery voice.
“Hi, you must be the new girl!” I turned around to see a girl with brunette hair and brown eyes and a bunch of people behind her. Just great.
“Yes, why do you ask?” I replied, trying to be polite as possible.
“I’ve noticed you sitting at the pack tables. You’re not from our pack but you don’t smell like a rouge.” She stated, leaning on the lockers with crossed arms. I don't think she knows that Reese and I were royals. I would rather keep it that way. I don't want to be treated any different or be seen as anyone special and I especially don't want anymore attention that I already receive being around Jace, Aiden, Sophie and Izzy.
“Does it matter?” I question, about to turn around. She squinted and c****d her head to the side.
“You look familiar.” She said, standing up. Then the b***h had the nerve to look me up and down, distaste in her eyes, no doubt sensing my mark. I was about to lunge at her when someone came to my side and caught my arm. Citrus and rain.
“Hello Jessie, care to leave?” Izzy said. I chuckled at the stuck-up tone in her voice. The girl, Jessie, scoffed and strutted her way down the hall with her group following behind.
“Who was that?” I asked, brows scrunched together in confusion.
“Some pathetic, bitchy she-wolf. Hangs with Lucy. She's overly clingy to our group." She replied, pulling me down the hall to our next classroom but she stopped right outside the door.
“Hey, listen. I think I’m going to go home. Tell Bell for me?” She asked.
“Yeah, sure. Are you alright?” I asked, worry filling me.
“Yeah, it’s just my wolf is feeling jumpy, on edge.” She explained.
“Okay, call me if you need anything.” I squeezed her hand reassuringly. She smiled and then turned to head to the office. I walked into the room to see Reese sitting at one of the back tables. I’m glad he’s in some of my classes, I haven’t seen him in 10 years. I sat down next to him and I started to tease him about his shitty training with Rowan. I pulled my phone out to see a text message from Danny, he will be here soon. I was so excited to see him again, even though its been a week and a bit. I was so excited I couldn’t sit still.
10 minutes into the lesson and Reese was texting Esme, more like trying to text Esme, and I found myself staring out the window and into the woods.
----
As soon as the bell rang, I told Reese I’d meet everyone in the cafeteria while I go to the front of the school to wait for Danny. I was walking down the hall when I ran into Esme.
“Anna! Please save me from your brother.” She pleaded and I giggled at her.
“What happened?” I asked, grinning from ear to ear.
“He’s being annoying.” She pouted. I laughed and linked her arm with mine. “You can come and meet Danny first.” I smiled. She returned it and on our journey to the front of the school, I got to know more about her. With her shiny blonde hair and baby blue yes, she looks absolutely stunning, I couldn’t ask for a better mate for my twin brother. We were nearing the door to the office when the all-familiar scent on sandalwood hit me. I dropped Esme’s arm and ran for the office door. Before I could even get there, a 6ft douche bag stepped into the hall. His head snapped to the side, but I already jumped into his arms, hugging him tight.
“Hello Denny.” He said mockingly, hugging me back.
“Ughh, I knew you would say that..” I chuckled at him. He laughed and I stepped out of our embrace to lead him over to a waiting Esme.
“Danny, this is the beautiful Esme.” I said dramatically. She laughed and shook his hand. I immediately ripped his schedule that he already received. I had the next 2 classes with him, thank the Goddess. Danny and Esme got to talking, and it was hilarious.
“Unfortunately, I’m mated to an idiot.” Esme said, playfully frowning. I roared in laughter and Esme joined.
“She’s mated to my i***t brother.” I explained. Esme said she was holding out on talking to Reese altogether and it was hilarious because he was raging about it. We made it to the cafeteria door and almost the whole population had their attention on the three of us. We stood there for a solid few seconds before every resumed what they were doing. I turned to the group’s table and almost no one was there. Reese stood up and met us halfway. Esme stalked right past him, brushing him off and it took everything in me not to laugh. “I’m Reese, Anna’s brother.” He introduced himself and Danny shook his hand.
“Holy s**t, you guys looked the same!” He exclaimed. Though Reese and I are fraternal twins, we looked very similar.
My face scrunched up in disgust. “That’s an insult, I obviously better looking.” Reese scrunched his face, offended, and pulled my hair. I groaned, rubbing my head and I pushed at his ugly face.
“Go get Esme, you loser.” I laughed at him. He turned and gave me the finger before he walked away to get his mate. We walked to the table and Reese sat next to Esme and Katie and Danny and I sat on the other side.
Katie stood up and introduced herself. "Hey, I'm Katie and that's Mike." She motioned to the guy sitting next to her. They shook hands and we all started talking.
"Anna! I think I'm going to have another party sometime with week, you guys down?" Katie asked Danny and me.
"Of course." I turned to Danny to get an answer from him.
"Well obviously." He said, offended. Danny would always go to parties with me.
"One time, she was so drunk that-" Danny started, but I quickly put my hand to cover his mouth.
"Shut up Daniel, I have some good stories about you." I fired back, grinning. He licked my hand and I squealed.
"Ew! You're such a grub!" I rubbed my hand on his shoulder. Danny tried to repeat my sentence in a horrible attempt at an English accent. I laughed and Danny continued to talk to Michael. A few minutes passed and I noticed how empty our table looked. I looked around and realised how many people were staring. I couldn’t blame them; I mean Danny was handsome. He had a chiselled face structure with dark, brown hair and hazel eyes and Esme looked utterly beautiful, even Reese was getting bothered by their unnecessary staring and pulled Esme closer to him. I suddenly felt a wave of anger flood through me. It made me think about Jace, where was he? I looked around the cafeteria to see Sophie running towards our table. I instantly stood up and stepped over the seat to meet her at the end of the table.
“Anna! It’s Jace.” She said breathlessly. I got a sick feeling inside of me. What was happening? She ran out of the cafeteria again and I sprinted after her. That irritating feeling came back and I starting to freak out. Was this feeling coming from Jace? We burst out of the glass door and cold air instantly hit my hot, sweaty body. She grabbed my arm but instead of going up the steps to the fields, she turned to the concrete path and we made our way to the front of the locker rooms. Before we could even step one foot inside, Jace emerged. But he was gripping some random dude by his shirt. He dragged him out and chucked him against the wall. He grabbed his neck and raised him up completely off the ground. The random guy took a wicked punch to the face. I was frozen in shock, my feet stuck to the ground. I’ve never seen Jace like this. He delivered another punch that made a sickening crack, breaking the guys nose. Aiden stepped out of the door and turned to see me and Sophie. Jace lifted his hand to deliver another punch, the final blow. He pushed Sophie back and she snatched my arm and pulled me with her. Before Jace could move his arm, Aiden snatched his hand from the air and pushed him, making the other guy fall to the ground. Jace grunted and that’s when I looked at Aiden’s face. He had purple bruises along his jaw, no doubt the outcome of a hit from his Alpha. Jace got up and took a step towards his victim.
“Stop it Jace.” Aiden said in a deep voice. Jace emitted a growl that I’ve never heard before. His stood there in an attack position, claws extended.
“You heard what he said.” Jace snarled. It sounded vicious and vile.
“You’re overreacting.” Aiden replied. He stood there looking unfazed, peaceful even, like this was normal. Jace ignored him and continued to stalk his prey. Sophie pulled Aiden back, worried for her mate. Jace grabbed the near dead wolf by his neck. I realised what was happening and I walked right up to him. Aiden was holding Sophie behind him, he looked hurt. Pained to not only see his Alpha like this, but his best friend.
“Jace.” I whispered. He continued to raise his hand.
“Jace!” I said louder. He punched the wolf in the face again. He put his hands on either side of his head, he was going to smash it into the wall, to finish him off. I could feel the waves of anger, pure rage emitting from him.
“Bellamy.” I hissed. He stopped. Dead in his tracks. I walked up beside him and put my hand on the back of Bellamy’s head. He dropped the man to the ground. I forced his head to turn to me. Each of his eyes looked like an endless pit of nothingness, a void of black. I pulled him to me, guiding his face into my neck. My other arm wrapped around his back. I felt eyes were stinging as I felt him shaking arms. Shaking from sheer rage. His hands slowly felt their way up my back from my nape to the back of my ribs. I moved my head and nuzzled against his face. Aiden nodded at me and motioned anyone that followed to leave. I heard someone lift the random guy off the ground and then Jace and I were alone. We stood there for a few minutes, me holding Jace while he took in my scent. I then pushed him pack until he was sitting on the concrete edge that lead to the rest of the fields. I stood in between his legs and held his head in my hands. I pulled back to place my forehead on his and I was now staring into his sea-green orbs. I held him in silence until he wasn’t shaking anymore, I stood in between his legs until he looked up at me. His eyes were full of shame and hurt.
“What happened?” I mind-linked him. I knew he wasn’t going to speak out loud. His eyes started flickering black. He put his head into my neck again, nuzzling against my skin.
“Jace.” I demanded. I heard him sigh before he mind-linked me. “I had to deal with him.”
“Why? Who was he?” I asked. He snarled into my neck, nose grazing my collarbone.
“A wolf. He needed to be put in his place.” He answered in anger.
“What do you mean?" I softly questioned. His eyes shifted around, avoiding my eyesight. "What did he say?”
He removed his hands and sat there in a daze, glancing at my neck, ear, nose, lips, anything but my eyes. I growled, becoming impatient. I took his head in my hands and forced him to look at me.
“Tell me.” I said aloud. My voice was cracked, and I could feel the cold creeping up on me. I forgot we were outside.
“He was talking about the twins.” He spat. "You and Reese." He corrected himself. I could feel my heart crack. He nearly killed a guy just because he threatened his mate? Jace snarled and I forgot he could read my mind. He put his head on my chest and I smiled at his actions
“He wanted to touch my mate. His Luna.” Jace said slowly in my mind. I felt proud, not just being called his Luna, a female Alpha, his Alpha. I placed my hand on the side of his cheek and pulled his chin up to me. I didn’t care if I only knew him for a week, that we were marked. He was my mate. I put my lips to his and kissed him sweetly. He quickly returned and the kiss was gentle and full of passion.
“Thank you.” I whispered. Jace smiled as he kissed me again. I ran my tongue along his bottom lip, and I felt him shiver. He opened for me and the kiss turned hot and intense until he pulled me back to glance at the people who walked out of the glass door.
“Wait until next time.” I said through the min-link, distracting him. Jace pulled back and smiled at me smugly.
“I look forward to it.” He replied boldly. I pushed at his face to pull away from him, but he held on to me. He put his forehead on my chest again and I chuckled.
“You look beautiful.” He said as he pulled back. I chortled and grabbed his hands to pull him up.
“What?” Jace questioned, completely confused.“You look beautiful everyday and it’s all mine.” My heart swelled. For once I let him have this, this possessive feeling, if he would be mine too. He laughed, sensing my emotion and listening to my thoughts. I quickly closed the mind-link off. He kissed me on my temple and lead me back inside through the glass door.
----
As we walked down the hall, everyone stopped to pay attention to us. We walked hand in hand and everyone wanted to get a look at the Alpha's mate. I forgot that it has only been a week and people might not have even known that the Alpha found his mate.
We walked into the cafeteria and Jace made his way to Aiden, probably to apologise. He may be the Alpha, but he has morals. I sat next to Danny and stole a chip from his tray.
He rolled his eyes. "Typical." He whispered. I laughed and glanced over my shoulder to see Jace making his way over. "Jace, this is my i***t best friend Danny, and this is my annoying mate, Jace." Danny gave me an offended look and Jace scoffed. "Sorry, that wasn't a good first impression."
"Oh, don't worry about it. It reminds me of the time when Anna-" Before Danny could finish his sentence I covered his mouth.
"This is what I mean when your an idiot." I hissed quietly and I faced him completely.
"I would love to hear about that actually." Jace said from behind me.
"No, you don't-" But Jace pulled me into his chest before I could finish my sentence.
"Yes, I would." He said smugly. I groaned, ready to argue but Danny didn't shut his stupid mouth. He sat down next to Danny and I forced myself to sit next to Reese and Esme. Thankfully, there the only ones who seemed to listen.
"One Sunday night, we got smashed and we were hanging with Emily and these girls walked up to Emily." He started to laugh at the memory. "Anyways, they said some pretty bad s**t and Anna went f*****g crazy and just unleashed on her." By this time, my face was on the table an my arms wrapped around my head. I heard Reese laugh and I lifted my head to glare at Danny. Jace was sitting there smiling and now I couldn't wait for Danny to finish the story.
"Anna scratched at her and ended up breaking her nose," Danny was pissing himself laughing. "Well, at the end of the night she got arrested." Danny brushed it off like it was nothing. I smiled at Jace and he looked shocked but proud at the same time.
"That whole week at school, she was that 'psycho b***h' that everyone stayed away from." He finished. I couldn't stop myself from laughing.
"You were arrested?" Reese asked, in disbelief.
"But it was worth it that time!" I whined, complaining about the memory about it.
"That time? How many times were you arrested Denny!" Reese asked, completely shocked. I started at him, slowly standing up. I looked around the table, completely frozen and then my eyes landed on Danny.
"Shut up you stupid bastard, don't say s**t!" I yelled at Danny. He raised his hands in surrender, we both know I was only arrested once, but I Esme stood up she grabbed my arms.
"See ya boys, have fun." She smiled and then she dragged me out of the cafeteria. "Wanna go into town?" Esme asked, pulling out her keys.
"Absolutely." I replied as we walked into the parking lot.
