- Jace's POV - I searched around the crowd for Anna. I can’t believe she would do that, but then again, she is full of surprises. I tried to track her, but her scent was everywhere, especially since we just marked each other. I glanced around to see her with Aiden and Sophie. Wasn't I there just a few minutes ago? “For f**k sake!” I heard her yell. She grabbed Sophie’s drink from out of her hand and sculled it. The nerve this girl had, it excited me. She then disappeared into the crowd. Great, just great! After a few minutes of searching, I decided to go back, maybe she returned to the group. I walked down the path to hear screaming, I picked up my pace at the familiar sound. As soon as I got to the clearing, my eyes went straight to Anna, hovering over some guy in the water. Before I could lash out, I realised she was punching him. It was Izzy screaming. “Someone get her!” She screamed. There was something wrong. Usually Izzy wouldn’t care, she was just punching that dickhead Luke. She ran towards the water. “Anna!” She screamed. Izzy whirled around to glance at me. She mind- linked me not a second after. “I forgot to tell you something.” She said, worried. “About what?” I growled in my head. “Something that happened to her. She didn’t even hear us when we were talking, somethings wrong.” She rambled. The conversation was over quickly. Reese ran for his sister. Ricky was on the ground, moaning. Looks like he tried to get to Anna. Reese shook her shoulders, but she wouldn’t stop. He shoved her off him and into the water. That seemed like the only way to stop her. I rushed over to them. Luke was floating in the water, groaning in pain. She just stared at Luke, not making eye contact Reese that was practically yelling at her. It was like she couldn’t hear. He shook her shoulders desperately as he whispered, “Denny, Denny! Wake up!” Wake up? Why was he telling her to wake up? Then I truly looked at her, scanned every inch of her face. She looked dazed, traumatised, like she was stuck in a dream, her face in a permanent scowl of confusion. I turned around to Katie, Michael and Ricky. “Leave.” I ordered. I turned to Izzy and she had tears in her eyes, she was frantic. It made me panic seeing someone as calm as Izzy look so worried. I trudged into the water and grabbed Luke’s shoulder and threw him on the shore before he drowned. I glanced to see Anna finally staring at Reese. She had no reaction. My wolf was going crazy, what was wrong with our mate? What was happening? She met my eyes, she looked pained, trapped for some reason. She brought her hands to her ears, blocking out all sound. She began to groaning, wincing as if something had just pierced her ear drums. Her eyes were so full of terror and I felt my chest start to crack with pain. Anna kept whimpering and gasping, then they turned into screams, hands over her ears. She stepped back into the water, her eyes frantically scanning for something. “Wake up Denny!” Reese yelled. “WAKE UP!” He roared. I ran through the water and up to Anna. I impulsively wrapped my arms around her. She flinched before she fell limp into my arms. I picked her up bridal style and looked into her still open eyes. Her silver eyes. I walked out of the water and saw Aiden blocking the path out of the woods, to the other part of the creek. “What the hell happened? We heard screaming.” He looked absolutely devastated looking at his future Luna. “I don’t know.” I simply replied. I looked down at Anna to see her staring at me. “Bellamy.” She whispered, lifting her delicate hands to brush them against my jaw. I hushed her, she looked oblivious and confused. Reese appeared next to me as he draped Anna’s clothes over her. “Denny?” He said. That caught her attention. “Reese? My head hurts.” She winced. Her eyes where closing. Her head rolled onto my chest, she blacked out. I turned to Reese. “Denny?”  He looked anxious. “It’s a nickname." He started hesitantly. "Her name is Deanna.” He finished. The word swirled around in my head, the name matched her perfectly. “I’m taking her.” I grumbled. Anna is mine, she is coming with me. Reese only nodded in agreement, glancing down at her with concern. I carried her down the path, Reese in front and Aiden behind. People were ushered away, to give their Luna some privacy. I carried her all the way to my car. Waiting there was Izzy with Anna’s phone. She opened the door and slid into the back seat. I placed Anna down, her head on Izzy’s lap. She gave me a nervous glance as she stroked her hair. Once we made it home, I carried Anna into the house, up the stairs and into my room. I lay there, her in my arms for a good 10 minutes. She looked peaceful sleeping. Suddenly, I got a mind link message from Izzy. “Come downstairs, we need to talk.” I glanced down at Anna hesitantly, I didn’t want to leave her here alone. But I carefully got off the bed and quietly slipped through the door. I stalked downstairs and into the kitchen to grab a seat next to Izzy and she started to talk. ---- - Anna's POV - I woke up in a familiar room that was not my own. Where was I? I tried to remember the last thing that happened before I blacked out. Memories from the creek and the sound of screaming filled my head. I moved to get off the bed and wandered around the room to the bathroom. I braced my arms on the sink and stared at my reflection. My dark-brown hair and deep grey eyes looked wild. My eyes followed all the way down to my neck, to the mark on my neck. Jace’s mark. Holy s**t he marked me! I started to remember when he marked me and my face heated, starting to blush a deep pink. I turned the tap on to plash cold water on my face. One of Jace’s shirts was neatly folded on his bed. I picked it up and pulled it over my head, the dark grey material reached the middle of my thighs. It smelled heavenly, like rainwater in the forest. I opened the dark-oak door and walked down the hall and down the stairs, trying to remember my way around. I used my wolf hearing to find voices coming from the kitchen. I swung around the door frame to see Izzy and Jace in deep conversation. Izzy looked calm as always whereas Jace looked concerned. As soon as I took one step forward, Izzy turned her attention to the doorway and met my eyes. She smiled and Jace snapped his head towards me. He raked his eyes up and down my body, then he growled angrily when he realised what I was wearing. I rolled my eyes as I sat myself in his lap. “Hello.” I said sweetly. His gaze softened but he still looked worried. I looked to Izzy’s calm face. Then it hit me like a truck, she finally told him. I froze, glancing between the two of them. “Fuck.” I whispered. Izzy told him, told him about Kaitlin. I put my hands on the table and went to stand up, but Jace gripped my waist and pulled me down. “Hold on, where do you think you’re going?” He grunted.  “I don’t want to talk about it.” I said, way too fast. What was he going to do? I killed someone for f**k sake! He was going to reject me! I started to panic, palms sweating. “It’s okay Anna, I understand." He brushed it off. “You were only protecting someone.” I stared at him, completely dumbfounded. What did he just say? “What?” I blurted, voicing my thoughts. “I said I understand.” He said smiling. I fell back onto his chest, the back of my head on his shoulder. Speaking of my head… “My head hurts.” I mumbled, rubbing my head. Izzy’s brows scrunched together. I was confused. “You must not remember. When we were at the creek, Luke was talking to the group and Mike tried to get him to leave." she explained. “You came back and, well, went after him again. We tried to stop you, but it’s like you couldn’t hear us.” I started to remember the events earlier today. Images of me punching Luke in the water flooded my mind. “Anna… You started screaming.” She bluntly told me. I turned to look at Jace. He looked pained, displeased with the thought of it. I stared at my nail-indented hands. All I could think about was the horrible sounds of Kaitlin's blood-curdling screaming. It filled my brain so much that it hurt. There were a few minutes of silence before Jace broke it. “You can talk about it later, then.” Jace started to compromise. I slowly and silently nodded. He placed his chin on my shoulder. We have gotten pretty comfortable with each other, mark aside. Usually wolves mark or even mate within a week. I glanced to Izzy and she pulled my phone from her pocket. I forgot about that. “Someone called Danny was calling you like crazy.” She laughed. I jumped up and snatched my phone. I quickly got up out of Jace’s lap and dialled Danny’s number to call him back. “Hey, sorry I didn’t answer, I was- “I started to make an excuse, but I was interrupted by Danny’s yelling. “ANNA! I was so worried, you weren’t answering.” He exclaimed. "I have news!” He started yelling again. Before I could answer, Danny jumped straight to the point. “I’m coming to Greendale baby!” He shouted through the phone. “Your shitting me!” I said, shocked. No way. My best friend ever in the whole world since moving back home, is coming to visit? “You b***h! When are you coming?” I swore, pacing around the kitchen. “I’m starting Monday, asshole. My parents are travelling and their forcing me to go to my grandparents, there from the Crescent Moon pack.” He answered. Jace’s pack. “Holy shit.” I replied. We then talked on the phone for the next 10 minutes, Danny explaining that his mother was from the Crescent Moon pack until she mated his father and moved to be with him. I couldn’t believe it. Jace looked annoyed about how long the call was going, when Izzy sat on the island, swinging her legs back and forth, she seemed not to mind. “Ughhh, Jace needs attention.” I groaned. I glanced over at him to see his brows bunched together with a ‘What the f**k?' face, clearly offended. “Jace?” He questioned. “Jace, my mate. And unfortunately, the Moon Goddess had to pair me with the Alpha.” I sighed. “Woah, the Alpha? You’ve really out done yourself.” He laughed. “No, I really didn’t” I grinned at Jace as he rolled his eyes. “Well, I’ll let you go. I’ll text you when I get there.” He stated. “Okay, by bitch.” I sneered. “Bye fuckface.” He fired back and I hung up laughing. I turned to see Izzy smiling and Jace rolling his eyes. “I’ll leave you to it.” Izzy says as she leapt off the counter to hug me. Jace finally sauntered over to me, practically sulking as he put his arms around my shoulders and pulled my small frame to his. I was small compared to him; he was like 6ft something! I pushed at his shoulders roughly to separate us. “You’re such a big baby.” I laughed in his face. I could feel the waves of anger emitting from him, he looked annoyed. I laughed harder in his face, clutching my stomach. “You’re going to pay.” Jace whispered, he looked animalistic, only with a s**t-eating grin. I stood still for a good 3 seconds before I bolted for the stairs, to the only place I know where to go in this massive house, his room. ---- It was a pretty s**t idea, heading for his room. But my hopes were crushed before I even reached the door. Half-way up the stairs, I was stopped in my tracks when a muscled arm snaked around my waist and pulled me back. And being the brute he his he lifted me, with the one arm, over his shoulder. “Let go, you selfish prick!” I yelled, hitting him on the back. He tensed but didn’t falter. “How is wanting to be with your mate selfish?” He asked, clearly offended. “Oh, shut up, you’re such a sook.” I complained playfully. We didn’t even make it to his room before he set me down. “Fine then. If your going to be like that.” He said mockingly as he walked away. “Hey! Where are you going?” I yelled. “Away from my mate, apparently I’m too selfish.” He stated, using my words against me. He walked into his room and shut the door. I tried to open it, but the b***h locked it. “Whatever.” I huffed. I heard him laugh within his room as I jiggled the handle around. “And f**k you!” I screamed. I walked all the way down the hall to another room, it smelled like Izzy. I knocked on the door before opening it to see Izzy sitting on her bed watching Netflix and painting her toenails. I stomped over and sat next to her, crossing my arms. She laughed and laughed. I pouted in return and she grabbed my hand and pointed to the selection of colours. “What colour?” She asked smiling. “Red.” ---- After we painted each other’s nails and I got to know Izzy more while we watched a few episodes of ‘Pretty Little Liars’. I bid her fair well and wondered down the hall to Jace’s room. I tried for the door and to my surprise, it was unlocked. I barged through the door to see Jace sitting on the bed with his laptop, wearing his black glasses. Glasses! I pressed a hand against my mouth and chuckled. He looked at me brows raised. “Oh Bellamy! You look adorable! Look at you.” I walked over to him and started to poke and pinch at his face and glasses. He grinned. Oh no, something bad was coming next. “Thanks.” He said, hauling me onto his lap. “I could say the same for you, Deanna.” What. The. f**k. “How in the world did you find out?!” I groaned in annoyance. Great, just what I needed. Not only will Danny call me that, but now Jace will. I felt my cheeks redden. My head fell onto Jace’s chest and I groaned again in irritation. “It was Reese, wasn’t it?” I whined. “Yeah, it was.” Jace chuckled halfway through my sentence. He placed his arms around me and laughed at my irritation. “That motherfucker.” I whispered. This only made him laugh harder. I sat up straddling him and slapped his shoulder. He then pinched my side, causing me to squirm away from him. s**t. Did I forget to mention I’m extremely ticklish? Well unfortunately I am and I wiggled under his touch. He raised his eyebrows, a challenge. Oh, for f**k sake. He slowly took his glasses off before he flipped me onto my back, hovering over me. He started to tickle me on my stomach. I roared in laughter, squirming under his hold. “Stop it… Bellamy.” I tried to get out between laughing. He finally stopped when I threatened to call him Bellamy 24/7 at school. We began to get bored, so we walked downstairs to watch a movie with Izzy. We were greeted by Aiden and Sophie. They apparently lived here too because they were Beta, Sophie being the Beta’s mate. It was down to Batman and Baywatch. We ended up watching Batman – The Dark Knight returns and ordering Pizza. The rest of the night went quite fast, with Jace falling asleep with his head on my chest. I played with his soft, onyx black hair with my fingers. Maybe even I could sleep tonight. ---- Today was Sunday and I found myself sitting at the dinner table with my family. We were somehow talking about school when my mind drifted to my French class. I suddenly turned to my left to ask Rowan. “Hey, where were we born?” I gestured to Reese across from me. “You two were born where father was, Brittany, France and Leah and I were born in England,” he explained, “Why do you ask?” “My French teacher asked me, she was wondering why I was fluent.” I shrugged, completely lying. She was wondering why I was falling sleep. “And I didn’t even know myself.” I frowned. Rowan laughed and started talking about our heritage, since I was uneducated about it.  After dinner, and having a long shower, I was lying in bed. I found myself oddly excited for school. I know, ridiculous. But Danny was coming to visit, or stay here for a while but either way, I was excited. I was happy.
