The Creek

As soon as we walked through, I was bombarded with questions. I quickly thought of the reasonable excuse that I needed to help Izzy go home because she was terribly drunk. Rowan seemed to accept it as Evie gave me a lingering, suspicious look. I started to walk down the hall to my room, when a squealing Kai came running around the corner. I picked him up in my arms and twirled around.

"Denny!" He yelled. I laughed at his little nickname for me.

"I missed you." I said, poking his face. He giggled then put his head on my shoulder. He seemed very tired.

Evie walked up to me to explain. "He woke up around 4 this morning." She brushed his fire-red hair out of his face. "We're having pizza for dinner, it should be here soon." She stated. I absolutely love pizza. I carried Kai all the way to my room and opened my bedroom door carefully. I dropped my bag on the ground and sat on my bed. I put my head on my pillow and placed a now sleeping Kai next to me. I only got 5 hours of sleep at Jace's, but at least I slept the whole time.

My mind started to remember today's events from school. That piece of s**t Luke then came to mind. Then I remembered I told Izzy about Kaitlin. Holy s**t. I told her. And she didn't even seem freaked out that I ki-. I stopped myself as my stomach began to knot. I tried to shove those memories at the back of my brain as I looked down at Kai. He looked like a peaceful little thing when he slept. Exactly the opposite to when he was awake. He loved to run around, climb all over things, especially Reese and Rowan. I then realised it was Friday. Thank God I had no school tomorrow. My mind then betrayed me as I started to think about Jace. I realised that his name is Bellamy. Just Like from The 100, one of my favourite shows. I laughed at the thought. He hated his name, and I mean hated it. I didn't like my name, that's why everyone called me Anna. But he really didn't like his name to the point where he went by his middle name. My vision started to blur as I was drifting in and out of sleep. I started to dream about Kaitlin and Jace. I wonder what he would think about me after Izzy told him. 

Actually, I didn't want to know.

I woke up to Kai stirring in my arms. He moved his small body to put his head at the bottom of my neck. I nearly melted from his adorableness; he is too precious. A few minutes later of me messing with his deep red hair, my door opened. Reese walked in with a smug grin on his face.

"Mum said dinners ready." He said, leaning crossed armed on my door frame. I gave him the finger before Kai sat up in my arms. I picked him up and put him on my hips as I walked past Reese.

"Shut up." I mumbled. He just chuckled at me mockingly. I walked down the stairs, Reese close behind and into the kitchen. Kai wiggled until I set him on the ground, and he ran straight for Rowan with reaching arms, but Rowan wouldn't help him. Being the bastard he is, he made Kai climb his way up the chair. Rowan laughed as Kai found a seat in his lap, excited for pizza. I sauntered past and licked my finger and stuck it in Rowans ear. He nearly fell off his seat.

"Yuck." He rumbled.

"That's what you get." I replied. He laughed at me before starting to eat pizza. Aaron later joined us, and we started talking about our day and school.

"And then Denny ran over and punched him straight in the face." Reese described with his fists. I groaned and fell back into my seat.

"Why did you have to say that?" I practically yelled. He cackled, knowing what was coming next.

"Anna." Evie whined with a soft look on her face "Why did you have to punch him?"

"I have my reasons." I replied, stubbornly crossing my arms. I didn't want to tell them because then I would have to tell them why. Then I would have to tell them about Kaitlin. Hopefully Aaron would stay out of it.

"Next time, go for the legs, then the face. Makes escaping hard." Rowan grimly admitted. I smiled at him, thanking him for his advice.

"Rowan!" Evie slapped him on the arm. "Don't encourage her!" She scolded, a look of bewilderment on her face. Rowan laughed, but he only got hit again. Kai started giggling at him, but before Rowan could reach him, he jumped off his lap and into my arms. I laughed; this cub was a smart one.

After dinner I wondered up the stairs, feeling exhausted. Reese stopped me before I made it to my door.

"Everyone's going to the creek at the Baxton's property because it's going to be really hot this weekend, and I promised Izzy and Jace you would come." Reese stated.

"Mike's house? Okay, what time?" I asked. Reese said he would leave around midday to go to Michael's house for a swim. He laughed as I waved him off to go to bed, I was so tired. I was excited to go to Michael's house to hand out with everyone, not so much the creek. 

I jumped in the shower, playing music of course. I slipped on pj's and grabbed my phone to see a message from Izzy, telling me she gave Jace my number. I rolled my eyes, but I was secretly glad. Thinking of Jace made me feel like I had butterflies in my stomach, only they were on fire. I loved the attention he would randomly give me. Like I would be having a conversation with Michael or Izzy, and he would just hug me from behind, or put his face in my neck to inhale my scent. It made me feel wanted.

Later, I received a message from an unknown number.

Jace: Hello 

I knew it was Jace. But he didn't know that I knew, so I decided to f**k with him.

Anna: Ricky? Thank God you got my number. Don't tell Jace about this though

Jace: WHAT THE f**k ANNA

I chucked my head back on my pillow and roared with laughter. It was so fun to mess around with him, to make him rage or seethe with anger.

Anna: I'm kidding! I know it's you Jace

Jace: Don't pull that s**t again

Anna: Why not? It was funny

Jace: You can't talk to other guys

Anna: I can do whatever I want

Jace: No you won't

Jace: I hope you’re going to the creek tomorrow

Anna: Unfortunately for you, I am

Jace: How is that unfortunate?

Anna: Whatever. See you tomorrow

I shut off my phone and chucked it on the other side of the bed. I turned to the side and closed my eyes. Hopefully I could sleep tonight without Jace.

I jolted up from my bed, soaking in sweat. Where was I? I grabbed my phone and it was 1am. I suddenly remembered where I was, who I was and it turns out, I managed to sleep for a bit. Breathing heavily, I unlocked my phone to message someone. Every night it was the same dreams. It was either waking up to find I still lived in Kingston, rouges attacking us, even that rouge that ripped into my side when I was 7 or I was getting rejected by Jace. And tonight, it was just that. I dreamed that Jace walked up to me in front of our group, declaring I was a sick murderer. 

That wasn't the whole truth. He admitted that he didn't want me, that the Moon Goddess made a mistake about us. It seemed like Izzy told him about Kaitlin. It was more like a nightmare, but I could still feel the pain in my chest like it was real. Was it real? I couldn't tell. I always woke up, wondering if my dreams were real, that everything that happened since we found Evie was a big lie. Like I was still in our house at Kingston. I started to message Jace.

Anna: Hey. Did I stay at yours yesterday night?

I gripped my phone, waiting for a reply. I just needed to know if that was real, if it really did happen. I remembered it happening, but I don't trust myself to think that it was real, that it wasn't a dream. I waited and waited as my hands started to shake.

Jace: Yes, you did. Why? 

I sighed in relief and fell back onto my bed. I shakily took a breath and texted back,

Anna: No reason.

I took another deep breath to try and calm down. I stared at the message to reassure myself. Looking down at my phone, I found another message.

Jace: I'm not stupid Anna, I feel it too

Felt what? Then it came to me, the rejection from the dream. I thought it was real.

Anna: Just a dream

Jace: Want to talk about it?

Anna: I can't

Jace: Stop it. Tell me

Anna: I had a dream. You rejected me. That's it.

Jace: I would never, you’re my mate. Mine

Anna: Thanks Bell

Jace: Night Anna

I laughed and got up to grab the earphones I stole from him. I plugged it into my phone and played some music to try and sleep.

The last thing I remembered before drifting off was how excited I was for tomorrow. I loved to swim, but usually in pools. I wonder how this will turn out.

A pillow slammed into my face. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I looked around my room to find my door open and giggling coming from the end of my bed. I got up and crawled to the side. Kai was sitting on the floor, covering his eyes with his small hands. He seemed to think if he couldn't see me, I couldn't see him. I carefully picked him up and fell back onto my bed with him in my arms. He screamed and giggled. He really was too cute.

I turned around and started to tickle him. He thrashed and kicked his legs, squealing. Then another pillow was thrown at me from behind. I slowly turned to see Reese in his pj's. I picked Kai up and placed him on the floor as I growled at Reese. I saw his eyes light up, near white, as I lunged for him. He dodged me and ran for the stairs. He ran down them, me hot on his heels. Before he could turn into the kitchen, I jumped. I pushed him onto the ground and landed on top of him. I pushed his shoulders into the hard-wooden floor. I hope it hurt. I growled into his face, canines out.

"Cut it out you too." Someone said. I turned my attention to the voice, Aaron, but quickly regretted it as Reese got up and pushed my shoulders into the ground and growled. I punched him in the gut and rolled on top. I snarled viciously at him and he returned the gesture. Then a little red-haired pup jumped in between my arms and onto Reese's chest. His eyes lit up silver and he growled at me. Or tried to growl. I slowly sat up and stared at the child laying on his back on Reese's chest. I threw my head back and laughed. Then Reese joined in, then Aaron. I scooped up the child and sat him on my hip, my eyes emitting a silver light and he glowed his eyes back at me. Suddenly, Rowan waltzed around the corner.

"What the f-" He started but I Reese covered Kai's ears. That only caused me to laugh even more. Rowan's eyes lit up, a burning silver. Kai tossed his little head back and giggled. Rowan stalked over to me and took him from my arms. I rolled my eyes but that earned me a punch in the arm from Reese. I turned and swung my hand at his face, but he blocked it, only to deserve another blow to his gut by my other hand. He forgot I had 2 arms. I poked my tongue at him and pranced into the kitchen.

"Whatever." Reese muttered behind me and I chortled. We sat down and ate breakfast, it was now 9am. After I ate, I excused myself to get ready for today. I jumped in the shower and shaved every bit of my body. Singing out to the music from my speaker, I chose my outfit for today. I chose my navy blue bikini with a pair of shorts and a singlet. I wondered down to the living room to find Evie and Kai, mucking around. She had him on his lap, tipping him back until he squealed with laughter. I planted myself beside Evie and Kai climbed onto my lap.

"Are you going with Reese to the Baxton's?" She asked.

"Yes I am." I replied, glowing my wolf eyes at Kai and he returned it. I chuckled and marvelled as this little pup and his eyes, my eyes. Evie laughed, poking his face. He grumbles, annoyed and hid away from her in my arms. We sat there, watching TV until Reese came down and said it's time to go. He brought towels to put in the car when we need them. We soon got into his car and started the journey to the Baxton's house.

20 minutes later, we were parked next to a few other cars at the back part of the Baxton property. We got out and we were greeted by many people that were surrounding the bank of the creek. It was rather beautiful, with a large body of water that was surrounded by large, overhanging trees. Reese either read my mind or my face expression because he mind-linked me and said,

"Don't worry, we hang out at a different spot at the creek. Not so many people." I replied to him, trying out mind-linking.

"Thank God." He chuckled and started to lead me towards the bank of the river. We left our shoes in the car, so we walked bare foot until we reached a path near a big tree that was on the sandy shore of the creek. Esme then walked through the trees.

"Hey guys." She grinned and wrapped her arms around Reese's neck. I smiled at them, they really looked perfect for each other.

"This way.” Esme sang joyfully. I laughed as she led us through the trees and into a clearing where I saw Ricky and Katie swing off a rope and splash into the water. Reese immediately took off his shirt and grabbed Esme hand and led her into the water. She wore a light blue bikini that matched her eyes and then I realised I envied Esme's beauty, she looked stunning. I looked around to see Mike making his way over to me.

"Hello sweetheart, great to see you babe." He said in a terrible English accent, pointing his finger at me, a beer in his other hand. I chuckled and brought me into a hug. I pulled back and I took the drink from his hand and chucked my head back to take a gulp. He raised a questioning brow at me.

"What? I deserve it." He shrugged.

"Whatever you say, Luna." He replied smugly. I rolled my eyes at him and went to take another swig when it was ripped from my hands.

"I don't think so." A deep, husky voice said. Jace. I rolled my eyes, again, how dare he take my drink!

"You ruin everything." I turned to complain. He chuckled, it was a deep, rough sound, it made my heart flutter. I faced Mike again to have Jace hand back his beer. He lifted a hand and ruffled my hair. I hated when people did that, especially Aaron. I groaned and slapped his hand away.

"Enjoy your day." Mike chortled, clasping hands with Jace before he turned to walk away. I whirled around to sneer at him, or say something stupid, but he beat me to it,

"You look beautiful." He whispered in my ear. Just like I predicted, something stupid. I couldn't stop the snort that came out of my nose. He pulled away to look into my eyes immediately.

"You think I'm lying?" He asked, truly shocked and offended. I started to strip, taking off my shirt.

"Maybe." I replied as I chucked it over a tree branch. His eye immediately raked up and down my body. I felt confident, even beautiful. But his eyes darkened in anger at the left side of my body, my scars. My arms involuntarily crossed my chest, hiding myself from his gaze.

"You've already seen them." I complained. He grabbed my hands at my hips and placed then around his neck.

"Who made them?" He practically snarled and I huffed in annoyance. Possessive bastard.

"It happened when I was 7, a rouge got to me before I left them. Okay?" I hugged my arms closer; he knew what I meant. But where they really that noticeable? Jace took an impossible step closer and took my arms from my body.

"I love them." He said easily. I felt my own eyes widen and I pulled back.

"What?" I blurted out. He looked right into my eyes.

"I. Love. Them." He stated, very slowly, sounding each word out as if I were a child. I took my arms from him and pushed off my heel to walk to the edge of the creek and instantly regretted it. I stopped right before the water, staring right at the sand beneath my feet. Jace, as always, came up behind me and snaked his arms around my stomach, skin on skin.

"Something wrong?" He said as he kissed under the shell of my ear. I squirmed at his efforts and he chuckled. I would not let him have this. I shook out of his hold and took a few steps into the cool water, trying to ignore the debris under my feet. A stupid fear, I know, but I couldn't help it. You don't know what's in there! 

The water went up to my knees and it was kinda relaxing. Jace soon stepped in next to me. The water was around his shins. Stupid tall prick, I thought mentally. I glanced at him, shamelessly looking him up and down. He was shirtless and he looked like a God. His abs were so defined and there were so many of them! I then hungrily revenged my eyes all over his arms and pectorals. He had that stupid, boyish smirk on his face, he knew I liked what I saw. But he decided to be an ass hole instead. Jace pushed me into the water and I practically landed on my ass.

"Stop staring." He cheekily sneered. He had his arms crossed and that same, stupid boyish smirk. I stood up, completely soaked and cold, and trudged over to him. I pushed him at his shoulders, but the asshole didn't even budge, he just laughed at my piss-poor attempt to knock him over.

"Move, you stupid brute." I murmured, still pushing him. He laughed again, mocking me. I then stood in front of him, trying to appear as calm as I could. I surrendered my hands in the air.

"Okay the, Bellamy." He froze in confusion at the mention of his name, and me giving up so easily. I took this to my advantage as I punched him in the stomach and pushed him into the water. He groaned and clutched his stomach as he stood up. Oh s**t. What have I done! 

Jace was standing there, soaked in water. He looked heavenly. But he smirked, it was dangerous and menacing as he trudged through the water to pick me up in a bear hug. I wrapped my legs around him unintentionally and put my arms around his neck. He turned towards the creek and started to walk in deeper. I whirled around to stare at the big body of water and turned back and looked into his pretty eyes with horror. He smiled at me, tortuously God-like. I screamed and clutched onto him tighter as he walked into the water deeper. The water was around his waist and I gripped my thighs onto his hips to pull myself higher.

"Jace!" I shouted, hitting his shoulder. I was latched onto him like leech, not wanting to go any further.

"Bellamy! You i***t!" I yelled. He stopped to look at me, mostly because I used his name, but I was still latched onto him. He unwrapped his arms from my back, but that caused me to hold on tighter, if that was even possible.

"Anna." I heard him whisper, practically smiling in confusion. I pulled back to see his playful face. The look on his face almost killed my fear, almost.

"Are you scared of the water?" He asked smiling a roguish smile. Damn him, damn whatever God that made him. I pulled myself back into his chest, attaching myself like a limb.

"So what if I am?" I mumbled, barely audible. Jace put one hand on my back and the other at the back of my head. I pulled back a little, just enough to see his face. 

"I won't let go." He promised. He linked his arms around my back tightly and took a step forward into the cool water. I pulled my thighs higher up to his torso. He groaned, looks like I hit a nerve. I pulled back to look at his face, his eyes darkening. I smiled as I went back to secure myself around him. He still held on to me, compressing my small body onto his solid one. He stopped when the water was at the top of my stomach and at the bottom of his pectorals.

"It's not so bad, is it?" He asked.

"I still don't like it." I mumbled into his neck; eyes clamped shut. He tried to move my arms from his neck, but the lack of his arms around me made me feel like the water was pulling me away from him. He chuckled as he put his arms back around my back and pulled me closer.

A few minutes later, when we were still in the same position, I dared to pull away to look at his face. He lovingly stared into my eyes as he smiled.

"What are you scared of?" He joked. I groaned and was about to latch myself back to my original position when he stopped me.

"Hey, I'm sorry." He said, inclining his head, still smiling. I took huffed in annoyance and forced myself to stay where I was, hands around his neck, no longer cowering on his shoulder or the side of his head.

"I don't like deep water." I admitted after a few minutes. He nodded, not able to stop that roguish grin that was starting to grow on me.

"Why did you message me at 1am this morning? And why did it hurt like that?" He said and this time he looked generally worried. I returned to my frightened state, remembering the pain of rejection, gripping onto him harder to the point where I felt his muscles tense. I placed my head into the crook of his neck to hide my face.

"Couldn't sleep."
