“C’mon, let’s go eat, Jamey,” Henry whispered, tugging at his arm. Breakfast—rather lunch—was more peanut butter-and-jelly on more thick slices of wheat bread, with yogurt and orange juice, hot tea and another monologue from Bonnie who wandered in to the kitchen to offer them the cookies and crackers from a shelf in one cabinet, just as Henry put a beef pot pie in the microwave. He had to have some meat. He passed on the cookies, they were chocolate chip. “Kathy—Dr. Melloy—left early. I don’t know when she’ll be back. Something about her house, her job.
