(Zayden) I woke up to sunlight and silk. The material graced my skin softly as I tried to comprehend what day it was. The birds outside chirped and I knew, it was going to be a good day. A day to show the pack my strength as their Alpha. Serena was curled against me with her hair spread across my chest. She smelled like jasmine and victory. The room was warm and clean. Not like that drafty cottage on the edge of the territory where I had spent one night with my supposed mate. I regretted it as soon as I had done it but I knew it wasn’t my fault, it was the mate bond.
