Karma smiled wide, showing off her straight white teeth. The camera flashed and her smile dropped.

"Thank you" she said hopping off the seat and walking over to the bleachers.

She pulled out her phone and checked the time. 9:17am. She wouldn't even be in school if it wasn't for senior pictures, but here she is. Watching as everyone smiled wide for their pictures, the their face drop like hers did was amusing. Their smiles weren't ginuwune and she could tell. It didn't reach their eyes. Karma was good at reading people. Knowing if they were lying, if they were truly happy, everything.

"Karma" A deep voice said pulling her out her thoughts. Without looking over, she already knew who it was. A smile spread across her face.

"You can smile but you can't look my way?" He asked, taking a seat next to her.

Karma looked at him and leaned back putting her elbows on the seat behind her

"I knew it was you. What I need to look for?" She asked with a smirk.

Dion chuckled and nodded then licked his lips. "Alright K. Keep on with that mouth"

"I ain't say nothing" she smiled " What you doing here? You're not suppose to be here until 12"

"Came to see you" he shrugged "Can't come see my best friend?"

"Naw" she laughed "Cause we're not friends"

Dion bit his bottom lip and ran his eyes over her body slow before finally meeting her eyes. Karma rolled her eyes as a smirk tugged at her lips "Then what are we?" He asked huskily.

"You tell me"

Dion scooted closer and put his hand on her thigh "I can show you better then I can tell you"

Karma look at Dion and bust out laughing, pushing his hand away "Boy, bye"

Dion laughed "Guess what I heard around school" Karma raised an eyebrow "Everyone talking about how you let Trey f**k you at that party last week"

Karma scoffed "Does that even sound like me? People honestly need to get a life"

"Relax K. I know you're a virgin and so do you. If people want to believe you f****d that bum nigga, let them. As long as they don't disrespect or put their hands on you, we good"

"You right but I will be confronting Trey about this. I haven't even talked to him since last month. His ass just want some attention"

"And honestly, he's getting it. Karma, people look at you as the last senior virgin. So when the word got out that he f****d, he got props"

Karma rolled her eyes "He can't even pull a hoe off the streets. How people expect him to pull me? And f**k?"

Dion laughed "Didn't I say chill? This ain't nothing to get upset over but listen, Mr. Woods coming this way. I gots to go" he kissed Karma on the forehead "Love you baby girl"

"Love you too D"

Dion stood to his feet and walked quickly to the exit with Mr. Woods, the principle, hot on his tail. Karma giggled and when 9:30 rolled around, she left. The relationship that her and Dion have can be seen the wrong way by some people. Almost everyone at school thinks they're dating or talking, but its neither. In all honestly, they're just close friends. They go out together and playfully flirt with each other from time to time, but don't think anything of it. When you know someone for 9 years, it can get like that.

Karma walked to her 2018 Hyundai Elantra and started it up just as her phone vibrated in her lap.

"Hi daddy" she smiled into the phone.

"Hey sweetie. What's up?"

"Just finishing with my senior pictures. What about you?"

"Lunch break. It feels like forever since we hung out so how about we meet up this weekend? Tomorrow at 2 sounds good?"

"Yea that's good. See you then"

"Alright sweets. See you then"

Another assumption people made about Karma is that she's a spoiled daddy's girl. Well she is daddy's girl but she isn't spoiled. Everything she has, she earned. Either by good grades, or overachieving in sports and extracurricular. The car was a graduation gift from her mom and step dad. Karmas mom, Stacy, and her dad, Ashton, were married for 20 years out of college and one day just got divorced. Stacy said they both agreed on it but Karma believes her dad never knew. He found out when everyone else did. Since the divorce, Karma hasn't been seeing him like she used to. Her mom thinks he's gonna fill her head up with lies. With things Karma shouldn't know.

Karma walked inside and was met with the fresh smell of dinner. It's the next day and she's just returning from the lunch date with her dad. Instead of them eating lunch, they just walked around the shopping plaza and talked. Catching up on things. Karma learned her dad found a girlfriend and although she wasn't sure she was happy for him.

"Hey Karma" Joe, her step dad greeted "How was your day?"

Karma went and plopped down on the couch beside him. She laid her head on his shoulder "Good, but I'm glad moms cooking"

Joe chuckled "Yea I'm starving too"

"What'd y'all do today?" Karma asked as her phone buzzed. A text from Dion.
