I woke up with a scream lodged in my throat, but no sound came out. My eyes were wide open like they would pop out of the socket. The air was thick, my chest tight, the world around me a haze of light and shadow. The stone walls glowed faintly, not from any candlelight, but from me. My body was buzzing. It wasn't a dream.
