I couldn’t sleep. Again.
The palace felt too quiet like the silence itself was listening.
The golden silk sheets tangled around my legs as I shifted restlessly on Jayden’s bed, my eyes constantly drawn to the soft silver glow bleeding through the cracks in the curtain.
The garden lamps had long gone out, but the moonlight was unnaturally bright tonight. Unsettling, almost otherworldly. A sliver of unease coiled itself around my spine.
