The room felt smaller than usual.
Jayden’s grip on my waist was firm, but I couldn't feel the warmth it usually brought. My pulse was still racing, and no matter how many times I replayed his words in my head.
"It meant nothing" I couldn’t believe them.
Not entirely.
“She touched you like she still had a right,” I whispered, my voice raw. “Like she never lost it.”
Jayden’s jaw tightened. “Kelani…”
“I’m not trying to pick a fight,” I said, stepping back from him, my voice rising despite myself.
“But you left me this morning without a word. Then tonight, you’re sitting across from her like you’re… like you’re still something.”
