Chapter 8Aiden wasn’t surprised Eskandar was gone when he woke up late the next morning, sunlight streaming bright and golden through his bedroom window. He told himself he was glad. Without the angel, it would be much easier to do what Aiden knew he needed to. He showered and dressed quickly, trying to ignore the scar on his chest. He thought maybe it was thinner, less rigid than it had been, but he wasn’t sure. And he didn’t want to think about it in case it started Aeshma coming through again. Aiden tried especially hard not to think of Tanner, but couldn’t help startling at every shadow, despite the brilliance of the warm daylight. Part of him was certain his next glance anywhere in his apartment would find glowing sapphire eyes staring back at him. In the end he turned on the light
