Tatum’s unexpected words hit Atlas like a ton of bricks, catching her breath in her throat. He was always taunting her, making fun of her, making jokes, and she had become so used to it that she hardly expected anything else from him. She was totally caught off guard, though, when Tatum said he was sorry for making light of her bruises. With Tatum's heartfelt apologies and the weight of her past feelings, her shoulders sagged a little. She turned to face him, not sure how to react, her expression displaying a mixture of surprise and vulnerability at the same time.
Tatum broke the momentary silence with a lighthearted tone, trying to ease the tension. He smirked and joked teasingly, “Earth to Atlas, did you hear what I just said?” H
