Thinking of her

It’s already 2 am in the morning and he still did not get any sleep. Leanne’s pretty face keep popping through his head.

“  And as far as I remember, you were never friendly to me in the past. We were not close“ Leanne’s words keep ringing in his head. She had shown so much affection to him in the past but he did not bother to return the feelings. He never expected that he will missed her so much. The giggling laugh she hears from her every time she hang out with Anna at their home.

He tried to go home every break he had from school just to get a glimpse of her, but Leanne never knew about it as he pretended to be cold to her.

He went to his study room and stated checking mails from work. Work was his always diversion when he is reminded by Leanne in the past. After a few minutes

“  And as far as I remember, you were never friendly to me in the past. We were not close“

“Ahhhhhhhhhh!!”, he tried to cover his ears as this words of Leanne keep ringing on his head.

He went back to his room and was just keep tossing on his bed. He tried to cover his head with the pillow  but it seems nothing is working.

6 AM, his alarm started buzzing. He smack the ringer and he sit on the edge of his bed. He pulled his hair with his hands. “Leanne!, it’s all your fault” he was talking to himself and cover his face with his hands.

He stood up and went for shower. When he saw himself in the mirror he curse “ Damned” He can see dark circles on his eyes, he look like a zombie.  He dressed up for work and went to kitchen. He saw Anna already on the dinning table with her mom.

“ Good morning ladies” he grab a sit and started eating breakfast

“ Good morning “  Claire White greeted his son “ Did you work all night? Do you have problem in the company? My dear son, Health is more important . I already told you,you’re already at the right age. You can marry Glenda and let her help in managing the company“

“Mom, it’s too early in the morning for all this sermon. You should give attention to this young lady” he pointed to Anna

“ I have my share of sermon before you brother “ she stuck out her tongue to him.

“Young lady, you should be the one helping me managing the company “ he glared at Anna

“ Mom is right, you should get married it might lessen your bad temper “Anna retorted

“Don’t worry I’m getting married soon “ Anna’s almost choke after hearing him said it

“ With Glenda? “ His dad ask and sit on the head of the table, it just came to dinning after him

“Nope” his short reply “ I’m going ahead. And mom I will stay in my apartment in the next few days”

“ Are you hiding my daughter in law in your apartment?  It’s not really Glenda?“Her mom ask him before he can stand up

“No to both of your questions, I’m not hiding anyone in my apartment and I have no interest on Glenda” he wipe his mouth and left.

Anthony’s office

“Thony, did you go through with the proposal I emailed?” It’s his best friend Rain, who work as one of the managers in the company.When he raise his head, Rain step back and cover his mouth “ Woah, what’s the panda look “  

He glared at him and Rain started laughing. “ What happen to you? Problem with a woman? “ Rain was teasingly smiling at him and sit on the chair in front of his desk.

“How did you guessed?” He look again on his computer screen.

“Really? Hahaha, this is new. I never thought you will have such worries. Most of the girls are throwing themselves to you” Rain commented

“Not this one. Or rather not anymore “ he lean back on his swivel chair and look at Rain. “Will you drink with me tonight?  Happy hotel roof top bar “

“Huh? Why not on our usual bar?”

“She is there “

“What? You fall for a bar maid?” Rain was shocked on Anthony’s words

“ I’m not sure if she works in the bar. But she is in Happy Hotel. And its Leanne “ He stand up and get his electronic cigar. He face on the glass wall of his office and look outside. His office is on 20th floor so the view is quite a scenery.

“Leanne?” Rain paused for a while and was trying to remember the name as it sounds too familiar to him.  Then he recalled “ Leanne? As in Leanne Brynes? “

Anthony just nod his head in agreement.

“Is she prettier than before?”

Anthony just nod his head again.

“But Leanne was obsessed about  you. What’s there to worry ? I know you like her even back then. I can see through your bad treatment to her.It was just your  defensive mechanism.”

“She’s not into me anymore. She did not throw me even a glance “

Rain was holding his laugh after hearing it. He went to Anthony and pat his shoulder  “I understand Leanne. You’re not as good looking as before.” He pull Anthony to face him  and press the forehead line with his hand “Let’s straighten this up, it keeps getting deeper because of your bad temper. Look at this eye bags? You should stop being workaholic” he patted Anthony’s cheek after saying it

Anthony smack his hand “ Go back to work, let’s have a drink in Rooftop bar in Happy hotel later tonight “

Rooftop Bar

“ Do they have VIP rooms here? Should we get one? “ Rain was asking Anthony as this is his first time in this bar.

“ I think they have, but let’s drink in the open counter. We might miss her if we will be in VIP room”

Anthony and Rain take a sit on the counter and order a bottle of Scotch.

When the bartender serve them the scotch and some ice, Anthony grab the chance to ask  “ Does Leanne Brynes works here? “

The Bar tender shook his head and call another guy. “ Boss, there looking for Leanne Brynes .“ Anthony and rain assumed that the other guy is the bar manager. The guy approach them and ask. “Your looking for who Sir? “ the guy politely ask them

“Do you have a staff here named Leanne Brynes? “ It was Rain who ask this time

“Oh, Miss Brynes is not working in the bar Sir, She is Mr Janus secretary. She just drop by sometimes to do some errand for Mr Janus”

“Thank you “ Both men replied together and look at each other. When the Bar manager left Anthony drink the scotch. “ Leanne trick me, She told me the other day that she work part-time her in the bar.”

“And you believed that?, She was the young lady of Brynes what makes you think she works in the bar?”

“She serve’s food in the East restaurant when Anna and I meet her the first time”

Rain was a little shock. “ Is she that poor now?, she works as a waitress too? I can believed the secretary job. Atleast it’s more decent than the bar maid “ Rain was nodding his head while saying it

“ I really did not know what happen to her in the past years. And I don’t want to ask Anna either. She will just make fun of me “

Rain put his hand on Anthony’s shoulder “ Don’t worry my friend, Look at the bright side, she’s back and for now, that’s what matter most.”
