A stranger to an old friend

Evening at East Restaurant

“Table reserve for Anna White?” Anna ask for their reservation in the reception, yet her eyes have been rooming around since they enter the Happy hotel.

“ This way Ma’am” a waitress guide them to the table

Anna, eyes still roaming around. “ Stop it, you look like a paparazzi , checking celebrities near by” Anthony reprimanded her sister for acting weird. “ Why  not reserve a private room? “

“Huh?, brother are you stupid , if we reserve private room , how can we see her if she pass by?”

Anthony knocks Anna forehead “ We can just ask the reception later if Leanne Brynes have a room book in the hotel”

Anna shamefully smiled and give an approved sign to Anthony “ very smart bro”.

The siblings order some food and Anna is quite at ease thinking that before the day ends, she would see Leanne

Leanne was on the kitchen wearing the restaurant staff uniform. Since she is very interested in cooking, She was observing the Chef . Then Somebody shouted “ For table number 12. Please “ Leanne volunteer to serve it.  She carefully take the trays and put it in the cart. Prepare the wine that will be serve with it and proceed to the dining area

She approach the table and start serving the food , When she was about to pour the wine, somebody embrace her from the back, which make her hand slip and spill the wine in the table and some went to the dish serve. “Leanne , your back” Anna’s voice was very exited

The lady from the table 12 , was stunned “ Anna? Let go, I’m at work” Anna immediately let go.Leanne face the customer and ask for an apology . “ I am very sorry Ma’am, We will replace the dish with a new one , Can you wait for another 10 minutes? We will serve the wine for free as a compliment for your patience. I am very sorry again” Since Leanne ask and apology nicely and offer amends immediately , the customer did not further complain and accepted the offer. She took back the dish and clean the spill of  the wine.

Anna, was just standing there and did not move an inch after letting go of the embrace, she was so sad looking at Leanne in a waitress uniform , but she was impress on how Leanne manage to settle the accident. It was an amendment a manager should offer and not a waitress.

After Leanne finished cleaning up the wine spill, she face Anna and said “ Best , I’m still at work . which is your table? I’ll come to you in a while”  She speak to Anna with out expression and walk back to the kitchen after Anna pointed at their table. She did not want to expose her charade so better stick to the role of being a waitress.

After she told the kitchen that the dish need to be replace because of the wine spill, she went back to the dinning area and went to Anna’s and Anthony’s table.

“ Hi Best , Hi Anthony “ Best is how Anna and Leanne address each other since they were young.

“You still call me best after you disappear? Why you did not call?” Anna immediately attack Leanne for her grudges against her best friend. Leanne maintain her posture and readdress Anna

“ Hi Ms White, Hi Mr White” Anna was shock and disappointed on Leanne reaction to her.

“ Don’t dare to call me Ms White “ Anna said in a challenging tone

“ Ms White , I am very sorry, but since your action causes the accident earlier. I would like to charge your table for the replacement dish and the wine given to the customer as a complimentary” Anna was lost on Leanne’s behaviour. She just stared blankly at her long lost friend and wondered, this is not the her best friend, this is a complete stranger.

Anthony on the other side was just staring at Leanne while both are talking.
