✨Theodore's POV✨ I slowly opened my eyes to find Neji's gentle hands on my shoulder. "Wake up, Theodore. It's morning," she whispered, her voice soft and soothing. I yawned, stretching my arms overhead, and swung my legs over the side of the mat. The darkness outside hinted at an early morning, and my body begged for more sleep. Last night's late hours still lingered. Neji's gentle tap on Jiraiya's shoulder roused him from his slumber. He sprang up, ready to defend himself, his eyes wide with alertness. "Oh no, I fell asleep!" he exclaimed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. We filed out of the tent, the crisp morning air invigorating our senses. Neji suddenly remembered something. "I forgot the toothbrushes!" She rushed back into the log house and returned within a minute, holding two brushes. She handed me a new one and gave Jiraiya his. With our morning routine underway, we prepared for another day of adventure. As we brushed our teeth, the sound of running water from the nearby stream provided a soothing background melody. The darkness was slowly lifting, revealing the contours of our makeshift campsite. After brushing our teeth outside, we filed into the log house, one by one, for our baths. I was the last to emerge, feeling refreshed and revitalized. As I stepped out, my gaze fell on Jiraiya, already dressed in ninja attire, holding a few tunics in his hands. Given our similar height, he had offered me some of his spare clothes. "Theodore, we've got a mission," Jiraiya said, as I began to put on the tunic. "Neji and I will be leaving for a few days. You can stay here and keep an eye on the house." I remained silent, taken aback by the sudden request. How could he expect me to stay alone in this vast, unfamiliar forest? But Jiraiya seemed confident, as if he knew exactly what he was doing. Without another word, Jiraiya disappeared into the log house, exiting through a large door at the backyard. I watched, still perplexed. Moments later, Jiraiya reemerged, leading two majestic black horses, their ropes held firmly in his hands. Neji followed closely behind, her eyes locked on mine with an unspoken understanding. "Let's move," Jiraiya called out, already mounting his horse. Jiraiya secured the horses to a tree, while Neji emerged from the log house, dressed in black attire, carrying two small bags and a satchel containing Jiraiya's roasted meat. "I heard Jiraiya's instructions," Neji said, passing me with the bags. "Disregard them. You're coming with us." Jiraiya took the bags from Neji and tied them to the horses. "I can't watch my back and his simultaneously," he justified. "I can take care of myself," I protested. "I won't stay here alone." Neji countered, "You heard Jiraiya; everything will be fine." Jiraiya mocked, "Oh yes, just like when the monstrous cannibals nearly devoured you. You were so capable of defending yourself." His sarcasm stung, but he spoke the truth. As a werewolf, I struggled with shape-shifting, only accessing my wolf form during full moons. My wolf's presence was limited to those moments, when he filled my mind with cryptic whispers. Neji shot Jiraiya a warning glance. "That's enough." My thoughts drifted to my family's legacy, where werewolves were reborn every four or five generations. I never understood why I was chosen to carry this curse. "Come on, let's go!" Neji's voice snapped me back to reality. She mounted her horse and beckoned me to join her. I approached, feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation. "Up you go!" Jiraiya said, boosting me onto the horse behind Neji. As I settled in, Neji handed me a rope to hold onto. "Secure yourself, Theodore. We ride fast." 🌾Uzumaki's POV🌾 Inside the wooden house, my wristband beeped persistently for nearly an hour. Sensing urgency, I grabbed my bags and headed to the stable. I untied one of the three horses and mounted it. As I rode out, I spotted Neji gathering flowers for herbal remedies. "Where are you off to?" she asked, concern etched on her face. "I'm visiting the King of Orchomenus," I replied. "I'll return in a week." With that, I galloped away, leaving Neji behind. . . After two grueling nights of riding through the dense forest, I finally emerged into the kingdom of Orchomenus. My horse's hooves pounded the earth as we galloped toward the grand entrance. The kingdom's majestic architecture unfolded before me, its towering spires and battlements bathed in the golden light of dawn. Guards patrolled the walls, their armor glinting. I dismounted my horse before the majestic red gate of Orchomenus Kingdom. Seven guards eyed me warily. "I'm here to see the King," I declared, approaching the gate. One of the King's guards stepped forward. "Does he know of your arrival?" I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Yes, I am sure he does," I admitted. "And my presence requires his immediate attention." The guard's expression turned skeptical. "Wait here." He disappeared into the kingdom, leaving me under the watchful eyes of the remaining guards. Moments passed, and the guard returned with a royal escort. "Follow me," the escort said. "Thank you," I said, lifting the leather reins attached to my horse. "Where should I tie this up?" "Don't worry, I'll take care of it," the guard replied, collecting the rope from me. I followed the escort into the grand mansion, flanked by guards and servants. The interior was vast, and our thirty-minute walk seemed endless. Finally, we arrived at the palace throne room. Lord Atticus, now King, sat in council with high-ranking generals and advisors. Their ornate attire reflected their esteemed positions. As I entered, Atticus's eyes widened in surprise. He rose from his throne, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Uzumaki, my old friend!" he exclaimed, opening his arms for an embrace. "Long time, brother." I grasped his outstretched hands, and we shared a hearty hug. Our bond went beyond mere acquaintances. We had fought side by side, shared victories and losses. Atticus's father had brought him to Shinobi, seeking refuge. I had stood by him against his treacherous stepbrother, helping restore his rightful kingdom. In return, Atticus had sheltered me when my own clan hunted me. Our friendship was forged in battle and loyalty. "Long time, brother! Glad to see you safe and healthy," I said, embracing Atticus warmly. Atticus chuckled and called out, "Zyphyr, come greet your uncle, Uzumaki, the Ninja who saved my life from my treacherous brother years ago." A lovely young girl with twisted hairdo approached, and I exchanged warm greetings with her. "Greetings, Uncle." Atticus corrected me, "Actually, that's Zyphyr's older sister, Pandora, you're thinking of. Zyphyr's the younger one." I scanned the palace, inquiring, "Where's Pandora, then?" Atticus's expression turned solemn. "That's precisely why I summoned you. Please, sit." He gestured to a chair beside his throne. I took my seat, observing, "Everything's changed so much. Your daughter's grown into a beautiful young lady." Zyphyr smiled shyly, her eyes sparkling. Atticus's face, however, remained grave. "Pandora's disappearance is why I need your expertise," he said, his voice laced with concern. . ✍🏽Author's POV✍🏽 Deep within the dark forest, a group of bandits clad in black hoods roamed, their hands marked with eerie symbols. Armed with an assortment of sharp weapons, they seemed to be on a sinister mission. Shawn, their leader, halted their tracks beside a bed of palm leaves and wood ashes. "He might have camped here. Let's press on." A wild bloodhound, their tracking companion, sniffed the air, homing in on Theodore's sandal scent. The hound's fierce growl guided the bandits deeper into the forest. "Show no mercy," Shawn commanded, dispersing his crew. "Behead him on sight." The bandits fanned out, their malevolent intentions palpable in the darkness. As they vanished into the shadows, the forest seemed to grow more ominous, its silence punctuated only by the hound's distant snarls. The hunt for Theodore had begun. To be continued...
