When I got a message on w******p from my friend in regards to a Job that his sister had informed him about, that the Job needed urgent attention. I asked him Why me and his reply was that I was suitable for it and that he didn't want me to remain idle. Honestly speaking I didn't want to go or seek any job opportunities, I used transportation as an excuse but he immediately credited me with five hundred naira, hinting on the fact that my employer doesn't like late coming , I reluctantly accepted to go.
That morning, he called me by 6:00, forcing me to take my bath, draft out an application letter, and update my CV, in which I did. he then wished me well in case I was interviewed. I got to the place, did an interview with the manager since the owner of the place was not on sit.
The interview was intense and I was able to answer some questions and missed some. After that I was told to go home and I would be called up on sooner than later. That call from my friend came at a time when I was idle and lazy. my mom wouldn't tell me that I was a liability but her actions did. My junior sister always gave me hints about her displeasure seeing me at home. her senior brother shouldn't be idle while his juniors are working.
I got a call fews days after my interview with the manager and was giving my job description and the dos and don't of the establishment and was expected to start immediately. that day was 5th December.
The check-in time was stated on or before 8:00am on my letter, I immediately took some of my clothes since it was a hotel job and was going to stay throughout till my day off. I got there at exactly 7:56am and was asked to meet my coworker so that he could direct me on what to do, I can say he did pretty well and he said I was to stay because he wanted to go home and rest, in which I reluntantly accepted, besides I was looking for a Job so I had to be serious about it. We both agreed on three days in, three days out and that wasn't ok for me. my mom would complain about it, she doesn't like her son staying out especially in a place he doesn't know , Mama needed to understand that am a man. A very good friend who stayed at Abuja was happy about the latest development going on in my life, she had made sure I registered for the Nysc, giving me a sum of Fifteen thousand naira despite her annoyance of my procrastination and not trying to make haste before I pass the above age to serve my country. Like I said every time, I owe her a lot that money can't buy. I quickly informed the friend who got me the Job, well, he said congratulations and warned me in details about the urge to flame up, he had told me to keep a good record and not be a pain in someone's life, He told me to be professional and replace my indignant face with a brilliant smile and forget what had happened to me. I accepted.
