The boys had all returned.
Riku burst in first with roses, fake tears, and glitter on his cheeks. “Miss me, little sis?” he cried dramatically. “I broke records at the Tokyo Dome!”
Toma was quieter, tired from court but still dignified as always. “A child custody case. Won it.”
Sora returned in a flurry of fashion sketches and fabric samples, handing her a scarf he claimed was “Lena-coded.”
Ren came back last, exhausted but smiling. “Two lives saved. My fingers still hurt.”
Lena welcomed them with warm hugs and practiced blindness—but her mind was far from at ease.
Because Kaito was sitting calmly in his chair, looking as cool and emotionless as ever.
As if she hadn’t seen him *walking* just last night.
They were all in the living room now—laughing, teasing, swapping stories.
And then Lena dropped the bomb.
“Kaito,” she said softly, “do you… feel pain in your legs?”
Dead silence.
Six pairs of eyes turned toward her. Kaito's expression darkened instantly.
“What kind of question is that?” Ren asked, a little confused.
“I just—” she hesitated, blinking behind her sunglasses. “I was wondering if he ever dreams of walking again.”
Kaito’s voice came sharp. “Why are you asking me that?”
Lena tilted her head innocently. “Because… I had a dream. And in it, you were standing in the garden.”
*Snap.*
Kaito’s glass cracked in his hand.
Everyone noticed.
Even Riku looked nervous now.
“Lena,” Toma said slowly, “are you feeling okay?”
She nodded quickly. “Yes! I just… it felt so real.”
The room was too quiet. Tense.
Then Kaito spoke, his tone low and icy. “Dreams aren’t real. Stick to your imagination, little Takashi.”
He wheeled himself out before anyone could stop him.
Later that evening, Ren approached her while she sat by the koi pond outside.
“You okay?” he asked, sitting beside her.
She nodded. “I just wanted to know what he’s hiding.”
Ren sighed. “We all want to know. But Kaito… he’s built walls none of us can break.”
Lena's fingers clenched around the scarf Sora gave her.
She had to be careful now.
Because Kaito knew she was watching.
And if she wasn’t smart…
He might come for her next.
