"Ami..." My father muttered in shock. I didn't allow him finish his sentence, when i stormed out of his office. I was not going to cry, i only felt pity for my mother. how she loved him. I ran out of the building as fast as my leg could take me. I didn't bother checking left or right, i just crossed the road, and continued running.
I didn't know where i was going. I passed my school, the community hospital, an came to an abrupt stop when i got to the ice-cream shop, where Jordan always took me to get ice-cream. He cheated!
I regained my senses, and continued running. I couldn't go back home in this state. What will i tell her?
your husband cheated on you, and is living happily ever after.
No i can't, she would be devastated. I can't be the one to break the news, so i kept running , until i passed out on the field of an event center. There was going to be a wedding, and it has been the talk of the town for weeks now. Mr mac donald , the owner of the event center, was busy giving orders, when i passed out on the field. I waved at him, and passed him my signature smile.
That thing could do wonders
The couple wedding were probably celebrities, or people of high status, because you could tell by the glass wares and dishes, all China. I looked at them intensely for a long time, wondering if this was what it felt like when Jordan and my mom decided to get married, all lovey dovey , but later on, became cold.
I checked the time on my digital wristwatch and saw it was already ten minutes to five. Jordan would have gotten home by now. I stood up, dusting my behind and waved Mr Donald goodbye.
As i got close, i began to shake. like really shake. I rang the bell, and out came an annoyed mother.
"Amira, you are thirteen for God's sake . Where have you been . The school bus passed and you weren't there".
I couldn't say anything, i immediately found the marbled floor interesting. There's this round circle, and a smaller circle on the marble floor...
"Amira!" My mom shouted, and there and then, i began spilling whatever i was trying to hold back.
"I went to dad's office today. I know, i know am not supposed to go visiting..." I said nodding my head. "but it's been a while, and, and..." I couldn't continue, i was lost for words, when i remembered what i witnessed in his office.
"and? " She asked raising her eyebrows in confusion. what should i say. Oh God where is Jordan. I thought to myself.
"He is cheating on you!" I screamed. "I went to his office and saw him and his secretary, ......" I looked up and saw that her eyes were already clouded with tears, and she began clenching her jaw.
"or maybe i don't know what i saw." i said, trying to lessen the tension in the air.
"Probably a figment of my imagination? " I said, more like questioning the situation.
We remained in silence, until she spoke.
"where is Jordan? "
"I don't know. I thought he would be back by now, breaking the news of his irresponsibility to you! " I barked, irritated.
"Language Amira! he is still your father, show him some respect. " She said, wiping her tears with the back of her palm.
love really is blind, stupid and........ughh!
"What are we going to do?" I asked, fidgeting with my pigtails. I don't want a broken family.
"We would wait for him to come." She replied coldly.
------------------------------------------
Days passed, and Jordan refused to come home. every morning, my mom would be seen, pacing in the kitchen, with her phone, trying to contact Jordan. Everyday for the past two days after the incidence, i had been fed with burnt breakfast. It was either she was lost in thought, or I was the one preparing breakfast, burnt.
I didn't bother missing the school bus. I began to leave school immediately the school bell rang for dismissal. Getting home, for the past two days, i was always greeted with a tired looking mother, passed out on the couch, still in her pyjamas, her hair not kept, and greasy with her phone lying on her belly.
Lesson was still ongoing , when Jordan barged into the my class and dragged me outside. No permission was taken, and when the teacher tried interfering, he looked at her menacingly.
"Let go of me!"I said, struggling to free myself from his grip, but he was stronger.
"Listen to me Amira, what you saw was nothing okay?" He said looking at me intently, trying to brainwash me.
"Yeah, because i am thirteen, and i am as dumb as a chicken." I replied , trying to escape from his grip.
"Well, your mother will believe whatever i say, and concerning me going AWOL, i will say that i was hijacked by some of my business enemies, but got released today." He said, looking at me with a devilish glint in his eyes.
"But why? , why did you do it, to mom, me? " I asked, still confused. "But you loved her."
" Pftt, I never loved your mother." He replied nonchalantly.
"Then why did you marry her?" I asked, irritated.
"You . You. You. It's all you Amira. I had to take full responsibility for the child, so that the society won't use it against me." He said."I had to marry Isabell because of you , and i can't tear this family apart because of you. What do you think the society will think?" He replied, his voice devoid of any emotion.
"So all this is just politics?" I asked, unbelievably.
"You are so smart for your age, of course it's all politics." He replied, tapping my cheeks.
"But now you are causing the scandal, by doing that with your secretary." I said.
"That's the thing dear, there was no witness." He said looking at me coldly.
"Well, if the cards are played well dad , or should i say Jordan, i was there and the Secretary was also a partaker." I replied, raising my brows.
"Well, am going to teach you a lesson, to the extent you won't be able to stand and talk." He replied, shaking me violently.
"You don't know me Jordan, am Amira, and i never give up without a fight. Never underate a thirteen year old girl . " I replied, barking at him.
I never knew we had attracted my classmates attention, and even the teacher, who was standing at the window, watching.
He clenched his fist so tight that his knuckles turned white. "We are going finish this when we get home, Amira." He whispered in my ears.
"No, i think we are done. No matter how you decide to play the cards, you can't get rid of me dad, you need me to get there. So i would say, watch your back" I leaned to whisper in his ears.
He looked at me intently one last time, before he stormed out of the school building.
I turned to to face the my school building, and saw that they were still staring at me.
"wasn't that a good show, fresh from the oven.Too bad there was no popcorn." I said aloud. They all quickly turned their faces, except a boy around my age who looked at me, amused.
